The People's Committee of Tra Vinh province has just issued a directive on strengthening the prevention of fishing vessels and fishermen of the province violating the provisions of the law on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and managing means of transport operating at sea.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province requested the Provincial Border Guard Command to closely coordinate with relevant departments, branches and local authorities to step up propaganda and dissemination to fishermen about border and island management; mobilize people to strictly comply with legal regulations on conditions for fishing at sea, linking socio -economic development with strengthening national defense and security in the new situation.
Continue to maintain the signing of commitments not to exploit seafood in violation of foreign waters for captains and ship owners operating offshore; resolutely not carry out departure procedures for ship owners and ship captains who do not sign the commitment, do not fully comply with regulations or lack necessary documents and equipment.
The Provincial Border Guard Command coordinates with the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to regularly review and monitor the number of converted, upgraded, and newly built vehicles that do not meet the conditions for registration and inspection, vehicles that do not have or have expired registration and exploitation licenses, and vehicles that have been removed from the periodic registration list.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development advises the Provincial People's Committee to develop programs and plans to encourage fishermen to fully register procedures to go offshore; raise awareness of law compliance, not to exploit seafood illegally, without reporting and without regulations; have policies to encourage and support poor families to complete documents, procedures for registration, vehicle inspection or to change to suitable occupations...
