Strengthening management of tobacco product business activities

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, to strengthen management of tobacco product trading activities, the unit is coordinating with relevant agencies to synchronously deploy review and inspection measures according to regulations.

Based on the list of tobacco product distributors provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the Department requested that its affiliated functional units focus on inspecting compliance with investment and business conditions during the operations of distributors in the area.

In particular, businesses are required to ensure a tobacco product distribution system in at least two provinces, each province has at least one wholesaler according to the provisions of Decree No. 67/2013/ND-CP of the Government .

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade will also step up the close monitoring of the rights and obligations of distributors and traders of tobacco products according to regulations. Specifically, retail outlets are only allowed to sell tobacco products to licensed units and within the distribution system within the licensed area.

In which, tobacco product distributors are allowed to purchase tobacco products from other tobacco product suppliers or distributors to sell to small businesses and retail outlets within the licensed area (Clause 4, Article 29 of Decree No. 67/2013/ND-CP dated June 27, 2013 of the Government, amended and supplemented).
