Strengthening communication on prevention and control of infectious diseases in winter

With the forecast of complicated weather conditions this winter, with heavy rain, storms and unusual floods, and the risk of outbreaks of infectious diseases such as seasonal flu, hand, foot and mouth disease, dengue fever, rabies, etc., increasing, the Ministry of Health requires localities to proactively deploy communication work on disease prevention and control.

Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Health , the Central Center for Health Communication and Education has just issued Official Dispatch No. 909/GDSKTTTU, requesting the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) of provinces and cities to step up propaganda on prevention and control of seasonal flu, dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease in children.

Accordingly, communication content focuses on providing timely information on the disease situation in the locality so that people can proactively prevent it; propagate the signs of recognition, transmission routes, and the level of danger of the disease; recommend that people take their children to medical facilities as soon as there are suspicious signs and not self-treat at home.

The health sector also recommends that people strengthen disease prevention measures such as: limiting contact with sick people, proactively getting vaccinated against infectious diseases, maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, washing hands regularly with soap, wearing masks in public places, ensuring proper nutrition and keeping the body warm in winter.

Communication work will be strongly deployed through mass media systems such as newspapers, radio, television, social networks and grassroots loudspeaker systems. In addition, localities need to focus on propaganda in ethnic minority languages ​​to suit the characteristics of each region.

Strengthening propaganda on prevention and control of infectious diseases in winter not only helps people raise awareness and proactively protect their own health and that of their families, but also contributes to minimizing the risk of disease outbreaks in the community.
