Improve understanding of the labor market

After the performance, the City Service Center's reporter started a career orientation talk, attracting over 220 students from Doan Thi Diem Secondary School. The talk provided students with a lot of useful information about the needs of the labor market; the groups of occupations that are of interest today; the occupations that need the most human resources in Vietnam in the future. In addition, students learned about the tools and criteria for choosing a suitable career, helping to determine personality, explore abilities, and personal goals necessary to orient themselves in the right direction...

Since the beginning of 2025, the City Employment Service Center has provided job counseling, employment policies and vocational training to over 242,000 workers. The Center integrates career counseling and domestic and international jobs for students through job fairs and job fairs held at universities and colleges in the city. At events, the Center shares soft skills: writing CVs, attending interviews, finding jobs in the 4.0 era; information on the labor market situation and career trends in Vietnam in the coming time.

Nguyen Phuong Vinh, a student at Can Tho University of Technology, shared: "Through career guidance sessions, I appreciate how to write a CV to introduce myself to successfully attend interviews and form a positive attitude, ready to accept the job when applying."

In addition, the Center for overseas job counseling introduces potential markets, EPS programs (working in Korea), IM Japan programs (technical internship in Japan) so that students in need can access official information sources. At the same time, it coordinates with communes and wards to organize job counseling points, helping rural workers find suitable jobs and stabilize their income.

Diversify methods, spread information

In 2 years (2024-2025), the City Employment Service Center organized 20 career orientation talks for high school students. Thereby, diversifying the methods of providing information about the labor market, helping students have an overview of occupational groups, job characteristics and requirements of each profession, forming learning and career goals.

Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Director of the City's Public Service Center, shared that secondary school students are considered the "golden age" for career guidance, which has strategic significance in determining majors and jobs, adapting to future labor market trends. Early career guidance helps students choose the right major, avoiding the situation of studying the wrong major or choosing the wrong career later.

Recognizing the importance of career guidance for students, training schools and vocational education institutions in the city proactively contacted the City Employment Service Center to coordinate the organization of activities: career counseling, job fairs, mock interviews, skills training or participation in job transactions organized by the Center. From there, expanding experiential activities: visiting businesses, skills competitions to help students have a more realistic and multi-dimensional view of careers. In the process of coordinating career guidance activities, the Center pays attention to the following factors: current events, practicality, sensitivity, and timeliness. The Center forecasts potential occupations that will develop strongly in the coming time; updates recruitment needs of businesses; salary levels, required qualifications, positions to be recruited for each group of industries... Thereby, building practical, reliable consulting content, increasing persuasiveness to properly orient students.

In the coming time, the City Public Service Center will continue to organize career orientation talks for secondary school students, providing information on the subject combinations to choose from and the admission combinations for potential careers that are suitable for their abilities and market needs. The Center will increase the integration of career orientation content into job exchange events so that students can directly meet and exchange with businesses; participate in skills training activities such as: adaptation, teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, etc.

"To meet the diverse, competitive and highly selective requirements of the labor market, students need to quickly change their awareness of careers and jobs, from choosing a career to mastering the career development process; book knowledge to practical value; working to entrepreneurial thinking and degrees to comprehensive capacity..." - Mr. Nguyen Van Toan emphasized.
