Strengthening propaganda about sea and islands in Phu Quoc city

On June 14, according to information from Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department coordinated with the Coast Guard Region 4 Command and the Navy Region 5 Command to organize a conference to disseminate the Vietnam Coast Guard Law 2018; disseminate laws on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and a conference to disseminate information about seas and islands in Phu Quoc city.

Accordingly, on the morning of June 9, over 100 fishing vessel owners, captains, fishermen, fishing port managers, facility owners, businesses, seafood purchasing vessels in the area... watched the report "The role of fishermen in combating IUU fishing" and had reporters disseminate and answer questions related to the 2017 Fisheries Law, the 2018 Vietnam Coast Guard Law and legal documents on combating IUU fishing...

At the same time, organize for owners of vessels and captains of fishing boats at sea to sign a commitment not to violate IUU fishing regulations; give 10 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to fishermen in difficult circumstances; distribute leaflets and present national flags to fishing boats in the city.

On the same afternoon, over 190 delegates, including cadres, party members, secretaries and deputy secretaries of commune and ward party committees, and cadres and youth union members in Phu Quoc city, were also informed by the Region's reporter about the basic contents of the position, role and importance of Vietnam's seas and islands; the current situation in our country's seas; the viewpoints and policies of the Party and State in resolving disputes at sea; the role of the Vietnam People's Navy in managing and protecting the sovereignty of the seas and islands of the Fatherland; policies to attract high-quality human resources to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern Navy...

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Thai Van Khoi, Head of the Propaganda Department, Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, said: In the past time, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and Coast Guard Region 4 have regularly coordinated and organized the implementation of propaganda and dissemination of laws in the whole province, especially in propagating the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard 2018 and disseminating laws on combating IUU fishing.

The propaganda plans of the two units were built very closely and specifically, ensuring comprehensiveness, focus and key points; the propaganda contents were compiled to suit each locality and each target, easy to understand, easy to remember, close, practical, easy to perceive and voluntarily implement.

At the same time, the Provincial Propaganda Department has also actively coordinated with Naval Region 5 to promote propaganda activities about seas and islands in the province.
