Questioning the Minister of Public Security , delegate Dao Chi Nghia said that currently, the situation of personal information being leaked, including phone numbers, full names, addresses, citizen identification numbers, and personal account numbers of people, is very common. In addition, people also receive fraudulent information, messages, fake links, and are bothered by calls inviting and introducing different types of services.
The delegate asked the Minister what solutions he has to resolve the above situation in the coming time.
Answering questions from National Assembly deputies regarding personal data protection, General and Minister of Public Security To Lam emphasized that personal data protection is a very important issue, especially in the process of digital transformation. However, the current situation of buying and selling personal data in Vietnam is very serious. "In 2023, our Ministry of Public Security had to warn and handle tens of millions of cases related to personal data infringement," said Minister To Lam.
Minister To Lam said that people's awareness of protecting personal data is currently not high. Specifically, people may be willing to provide personal information to others.
The Ministry of Public Security is currently directing the implementation of a number of solutions. In particular, urgently completing the legal framework, proposing the development of the Law on Personal Data Protection to submit to the National Assembly for comments. In addition, improving the effectiveness of state management on personal data protection, focusing on effectively implementing the provisions of the Law on Cyber Security and Decree 13 of the Government on personal data protection. In particular, identifying and strictly implementing the responsibilities of relevant entities in personal data protection have been strictly regulated in the law and this Decree.
