
On the afternoon of February 11th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee - Command of Military Region 7 held a ceremony to award the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to individuals with exceptionally outstanding achievements in the resistance war against the US, making a great contribution to the cause of national liberation, building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
Attending the ceremony were former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front; current and former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Command of Military Region 7; leaders of provinces and cities in Military Region 7; representatives of family members and leaders of Party committees and governments of communes and wards representing the hometowns and places of residence of individuals awarded or posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the President of Vietnam, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Minister of National Defense, awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the following comrades: Lieutenant General Luu Phuoc Luong, former Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Southwest Region, former Deputy Political Commander of Military Region 9, former Squad Leader - Station Chief of K63 (Radio Telephone), Battalion 42, Information Region B2; Lieutenant General Le Thanh Tam, former Deputy Political Commander of Military Region 7, former Deputy Political Division Commander of Division 5, former Political Commissar of Battalion 8, Regiment 3, Division 9, Corps 4 (now Corps 34); Major General Tran Ngoc Tho, former Chief of Staff of Military Region 7, former Company Commander of Company 25, Regiment 88, Division 302.
The President of Vietnam has decided to posthumously award the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the following comrades: Lieutenant General Nguyen Thoi Bung, former Deputy Minister of National Defense, former Commander of Military Region 7, former Head of Operations Department, B2 Regional Staff (now the 7th Military Region Staff); Lieutenant General Bui Thanh Van, former Commander of Military Region 7, former Commander of the 5th Division, Military Region 7; Lieutenant General Le Nam Phong, former Principal of the Army Officer School 2, former Commander of the 7th Division; Major General Vo Minh Nhu, former Deputy Commander of Military Region 7, former Commander of the 5th Division, Regional Command (now the 5th Division, Military Region 7).
At the ceremony, on behalf of the President of Vietnam, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau presented the Decision posthumously awarding the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to representatives of the families of the posthumously awarded Heroes of the People's Armed Forces.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Minister of National Defense, respectfully honors the contributions and sacrifices of the comrades who have been awarded or posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
General Nguyen Van Gau affirmed that the generals who were awarded or posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces were all brilliant military leaders and commanders who made immense contributions to the process of building and perfecting Vietnamese military art, enriching the art of combat, and methods of conducting Party and political work in the Army; their revolutionary lives, along with their contributions and noble character, talent, and virtue, will forever be shining examples for officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army to learn from and emulate.
"The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense respectfully request that previous generations continue to show care, love, and support so that today's officers and soldiers remain steadfast, uphold traditions, contribute their talents, and write another glorious chapter in the nation's rising era," General Nguyen Van Gau emphasized.
On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee - Command of Military Region 7 organized a ceremony to express gratitude and present gifts to the family of General Le Van Dung, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, and former Commander of Military Region 7, for his immense contributions to the country, the Army in general, and the armed forces of Military Region 7 in particular.
