Accelerating 5G network infrastructure coverage, promoting national digital transformation

VHO - It is expected that by the end of this year, the total number of Viettel 5G stations accumulated across the network will reach 30,000, covering 90% of outdoor areas nationwide; creating a superior technology platform to effectively serve digital transformation.

In early 2025, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 193/2025/QH15 on piloting a number of special mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs in science , technology, innovation and national digital transformation development.

According to Decree No. 88/2025/ND-CP, the Government will support businesses in deploying 5G network infrastructure nationwide if at least 20,000 5G transmission stations are accepted and put into use from February 19 to December 31, 2025.

To date, Viettel has exceeded its commitment to build 20,000 new 5G stations.

This is a special policy to create a breakthrough in national digital transformation, realizing the goal of advanced and modern digital technology infrastructure, and nationwide 5G coverage by 2030 according to Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

On December 8, the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) announced that it had reached the milestone of installing 20,000 new 5G stations in 2025, exceeding the commitment plan with the Government. It is expected that by the end of this year, the total number of Viettel 5G stations accumulated in the entire network will reach 30,000 stations, covering 90% of the outdoor area nationwide.

It is expected that by the end of December this year, the total number of Viettel 5G stations accumulated across the network will reach 30,000 stations.

Viettel Group said that from now until the end of December, it will continue to aim to exceed its commitment, installing 23,500 new stations, nearly 4 times the number of stations installed in 2024.

With the new deployment, Viettel will own the largest 5G network in Vietnam with a cumulative 30,000 stations, 5G coverage to 90% of outdoor areas and 70% of indoor areas nationwide, including both urban and rural areas.

According to Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, Resolution 57 of the Politburo, focusing on promoting breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, has created a strong driving force for Viettel to concentrate all resources to deploy 5G network infrastructure as soon as possible.

“Not only does it have a large coverage area, Viettel’s 5G network also has a superior advantage in modern technology. This is the technological foundation to serve the Government, businesses and people in digital transformation effectively,” Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang affirmed.
