Facilitate the movement of goods across borders

At the conference, the leaders of the two provinces signed a Memorandum of Agreement to facilitate the transportation of goods across the border. The People's Committee of Dong Thap province and the Prey Veng provincial government agreed to implement appropriate measures to facilitate and enhance border trade.

Specifically, the two provinces allow and facilitate the temporary import and re-export of Cambodia-Vietnam means of transport at the border gates of Dong Thap and Prey Veng to enhance the delivery and receipt of goods within the border gate areas of Dong Thap and Prey Veng and return to Cambodia and Vietnam within the day. This must ensure compliance with the laws on border trade activities of each country. If there are any changes in regulations related to Vietnam-Cambodia border trade, the two provinces will promptly notify each other in writing to coordinate in finding solutions and implementing them most effectively.

Vehicles entering and exiting the border gate area of the two provinces must comply with the Protocol implementing the Road Transport Agreement between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia signed on October 10, 2005; Protocol on amending the Protocol implementing the Road Transport Agreement between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia, effective from February 26, 2019.

Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan said that over the past time, Dong Thap and Prey Veng provinces have continuously consolidated and developed their friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation in many fields. The two sides have maintained a good coordination mechanism in maintaining security and order in the border area, creating favorable conditions for people from both sides to travel, exchange and trade, contributing to building a peaceful , friendly and mutually developing border.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the total import and export turnover of Dong Thap across the border reached 984.7 million USD, of which the export turnover reached 92.4 million USD, the import turnover reached 892.3 million USD. The main export items across the border are fertilizers, animal feed, aquatic products...; the main imported goods are natural yellow sand, rice, sugar, iron ore... The security and order situation on the Dong Thap - Prey Veng border is stable. The functional forces of the two sides coordinate well to patrol and control the border, ensuring the safety of the border and landmarks.

Deputy Governor of Prey Veng Province Pich Sotharoth informed that the agreement and signing of the Minutes between Dong Thap and Prey Veng provinces aims to continue the spirit of good neighborliness, solidarity, trust, mutual understanding as well as good cooperation in all fields, creating favorable conditions for trade activities of people in Dong Thap and Prey Veng provinces.
