Creating livelihoods through vocational training.

Focusing on vocational training linked to job creation is becoming a key direction for many localities in poverty reduction efforts. Instead of short-term support, many communes are concentrating on improving the quality of the workforce, attracting investment, creating stable livelihoods, helping people achieve sustainable incomes, and gradually rise out of poverty.

Residents of Bach Thong commune (Thai Nguyen province) participate in agricultural vocational training classes to improve their knowledge and production skills.

Cam Giang commune currently has approximately 6,000 people of working age, of which nearly 3,900 work in agriculture; the number of trained workers is about 1,500. This represents both a resource and potential for the locality to further promote the shift in labor structure.

In recent years, the development of many production and business establishments in the area has contributed to creating local jobs for the people. Notably, Vinacom Vietnam Import-Export Co., Ltd. is providing regular employment for approximately 100 local workers, helping many households achieve stable incomes and gradually improve their living standards.

According to Mr. Trinh Van Tuan, Director of the company, maintaining stable production helps the business develop and contributes to providing long-term employment for rural workers. Conversely, a skilled workforce committed to the company is also a crucial factor for sustainable business development.

Along with job creation, vocational training is yielding clear results in many localities. In Bach Thong commune, in 2025, many vocational training classes were organized according to the actual needs of the people, focusing on livestock farming and crop cultivation.

From relying primarily on traditional methods, many households have learned to apply science and technology to their practices, reducing risks, increasing productivity, and improving economic efficiency. Mr. Dinh Quang Khanh from Ban Pe village said: "After receiving technical training, my family's livestock farming has become more systematic, disease outbreaks have been reduced, and our income has gradually become more stable than before."

Vocational training not only improves labor skills but also opens up concrete job opportunities for people. In Con Minh commune, thanks to short-term vocational training courses, many workers have boldly formed associations and production groups in the locality.

After attending a construction vocational training course, Mr. Nong The Hoang, along with several other laborers in the village, formed a construction team and undertook the construction of public works projects in the area. The work became more stable, and their income gradually improved.

Vocational training courses for rural workers contribute to improving skills, creating jobs, and increasing income for the people.

Vocational training courses for rural workers contribute to improving skills, creating jobs, and increasing income for the people.

Based on the actual needs of the people, Con Minh commune proposes to implement a vocational training and sustainable employment support project in 2026 with a total budget of approximately 1.5 billion VND to expand the scale of training, diversify occupations, and strengthen connections with the labor market.

In reality, when people are equipped with skills and have access to employment, the effectiveness of poverty reduction is clearly demonstrated through improved income and changes in mindset and practices.

However, to sustain these results, long-term guidance and support from local authorities are needed in selecting suitable occupations, connecting to markets, and creating a favorable environment for people to develop their livelihoods.

Mr. Hoang Van Thuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Duong commune, informed: In 2025, the entire commune will still have 429 poor households. The locality has prioritized vocational training and livelihood support for the people; at the same time, it has promoted vocational training linked to job creation, creating conditions for people to develop their economy, increase their income and reduce poverty sustainably.

In the coming period, localities will continue to promote vocational training linked to job creation, creating conditions for people to develop their economy, increase their income, and aim for sustainable poverty reduction. This shows that when each worker has a stable occupation and earns income from their own labor, the goal of poverty reduction will become a real transformation in the socio-economic life at the grassroots level.
