According to the recently released Q4 2025 financial report of VNG Group Joint Stock Company - the owner of the Zalo application and many popular games - net revenue for the entire year reached VND 10,890 billion, an increase of 17.5% compared to 2024.
VNG's gross profit also improved significantly, increasing by 16% year-on-year to VND 3,979 billion. Many types of expenses also tended to decrease compared to the same period, such as financial and business management expenses.
Conversely, selling expenses increased from VND 1,970 billion to VND 2,557 billion. On the positive side, VNG recorded a net profit from business operations of VND 110 billion, in contrast to a loss of over VND 286 billion in 2024.
After deducting all expenses and taxes, VNG reported a net loss of VND 231 billion, significantly lower than the VND 1,180 billion loss of the previous year.
As business results improved, the company's employee expenses also tended to increase.
By the end of 2025, VNG will have a total of 3,327 employees, an increase of 3 compared to the previous year. With this workforce size, the company spent 3,031 billion VND on employee costs in 2025, an increase of nearly 12% compared to 2024.
It is estimated that the average income and related benefits for each VNG employee will be approximately 76 million VND/person/month, about 6 million VND/month higher than in 2024.
VNG's employee costs are significantly higher than many currently "hot" industries, including banking. For example, Vietcombank , the state-owned bank that holds the top position in terms of profit in 2025, only...
At the end of 2025, Vietcombank recorded a total of 23,457 employees. During the year, the bank spent VND 13,662 billion on employee expenses, an increase of over 11% compared to the previous year. On average, Vietcombank spent approximately VND 48.5 million per person per month on each employee.
Meanwhile, at Techcombank , the average income per employee in 2025 is projected to reach approximately 48 million VND/person/month, a decrease of about 1 million VND compared to the average in 2024.
Regarding VNG, the National Competition Commission recently issued a decision imposing the maximum penalty for administrative violations committed by the company operating and managing the Zalo platform.
Specifically, VNG was found to have violated regulations by failing to provide a mechanism for consumers to choose whether or not to allow the use of their information for advertising, promoting products, goods, services, and other commercial activities.
How are other tech companies doing?
Another domestic technology group, FPT, has also released its Q4 2025 financial report.
According to the report, at the end of 2025, FPT Group had a total of 54,110 employees, a decrease of nearly 540 people compared to the same period the previous year. However, the company did not disclose or explain the average income of its employees in the report.
Regarding business performance, FPT's revenue for the whole of last year reached VND 70,112 billion, an increase of nearly 12% compared to the previous year. Net profit after tax was VND 11,225 billion, an increase of 19%.
Digiworld Joint Stock Company (DGW), a distributor of dozens of mobile phone, electronics, and food brands, generated over VND 27,240 billion in revenue and VND 555 billion in after-tax profit last year, representing growth of 20% and 24% respectively.
