On November 12, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan chaired a working session with Bourbon Group (Japan) and Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited to discuss the orientation of developing raw material areas and exporting high-quality cocoa.

Mr. Minoru Kikkawa - Senior Executive Director of Bourbon Group Japan and Mr. Dang Tuong Khanh - General Director of Trong Duc Cocoa Company, exchanged information at the working session.
Mr. Minoru Kikkawa - Senior Executive Director of Bourbon Group, said that this enterprise is one of the largest confectionery manufacturers in Japan, with the main ingredient being chocolate imported from South America.
However, this raw material area is currently affected by many factors, so the raw material price in this area is quite high and unstable. Therefore, to ensure the stability of raw material sources for production, the group has conducted many surveys and researches on cocoa raw material sources in Vietnam in general and Gia Lai province in particular.
Through the survey, Bourbon Group found that the land and climate in Gia Lai are very suitable for growing cocoa trees and the quality is also very outstanding. From there, they signed a cooperation agreement with Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited to develop and expand the raw material area, and purchase cocoa beans in Gia Lai to meet the processing needs of the group.
“Bourbon not only seeks a stable supply, contributing to the development of local cocoa trees, but also wants to promote Vietnamese cocoa beans to the world through its products,” affirmed Mr. Minoru Kikkawa.
Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan pledged to create favorable conditions for the two enterprises to expand their growing areas, improve productivity and product quality. He asked the enterprises to commit to long-term consumption, guide farmers on planting and care processes, and apply growing area codes to gradually build the "Gia Lai cocoa" brand in the international market.

Gia Lai provincial leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation in cocoa growing and exporting areas between Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited and Bourbon Group.
In addition, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the two enterprises to study investment in deep processing and establish factories to produce cocoa products for export. He also noted that the planned raw material area is mainly an area with a large number of ethnic minorities, so it is necessary to pay attention to social security and coordinate closely with local authorities during the implementation process.
At the meeting, the leaders of Gia Lai province witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation contract on cocoa growing areas for export between Trong Duc Cacao Company Limited and Bourbon Group. At the same time, the two enterprises also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in developing cocoa material areas and consuming cocoa products in Po To commune.
