Training and fostering legal knowledge and skills in propaganda and counseling on marriage, population and family

On November 1, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of An Giang province coordinated with Chau Thanh Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Secondary School and An Bien Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Secondary School to organize a training conference to foster legal knowledge and communication skills, and provide counseling on marriage, population and family for officials, parents and local people.

Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of An Giang province, Danh Tha, reported on the current situation, causes and consequences of early marriage and incestuous marriage.

At the conference, nearly 100 delegates, including officials, parents and people from Chau Thanh, Thanh Loc, Binh An, Giong Rieng, An Bien, Dong Thai communes... were introduced and discussed many practical topics such as the current situation, causes and consequences of early marriage and consanguineous marriage; support policies and solutions to reduce early marriage; the 2014 Law on Marriage and Family and related regulations...

Through training, delegates will improve their knowledge and skills in propaganda and mobilization to raise awareness of the community, especially ethnic minorities, about building progressive families, voluntary, equal and happy marriages.

On this occasion, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of An Giang province distributed nearly 100 sets of propaganda documents related to the project "Reducing child marriage and incestuous marriage in ethnic minority and mountainous areas" to help localities have more sources of information and materials to serve propaganda work at the grassroots level.
