On the morning of December 11th, the Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), organized a training conference on rules of origin for goods, supporting businesses in the province to effectively utilize the benefits from free trade agreements (FTAs).

Over 200 import-export professionals from various businesses received information on relevant circulars regarding the origin of goods; an analysis of the rules of origin in the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA), applicable to 11 ASEAN member countries, including Vietnam; new adjustments and recommendations to improve the utilization rate of preferential tariffs. Businesses were informed about the certification mechanism, the process of checking and verifying origin, and compliance requirements when participating in FTAs; guidance on the steps to prepare trader profiles, applications for Certificates of Origin (C/O), the appropriate time for issuing C/Os for each type of export; the method of calculating regional value content (RVC); how to convert commodity codes and the cumulation principle to ensure compliance with origin standards to enjoy preferential tariffs when exporting to ATIGA member markets and other FTAs.

The conference dedicated significant time to direct exchanges between businesses and experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, focusing on practical situations in determining origin, processing documentation, and applying ATIGA rules and other FTAs. The solutions provided helped businesses improve their processes, reduce risks, and enhance their ability to utilize tariff preferences in import and export activities, as well as expand their markets in the future.
