According to the Vietnam Coast Guard, during the working trip to Japan, the crew on board CSB 8004 paid courtesy visits to local authorities and leaders of the Japan Coast Guard, exchanged and shared operational experiences with Region 7/Japan Coast Guard; coordinated search and rescue exercises at sea; visited local cultural sites and held a reception for the two forces.

This is the third time that CSB 8004 has carried out a mission in distant waters. The total round trip distance is nearly 4,600 nautical miles, having to cross many sea areas with bad weather due to the influence of storms and tropical depressions.
Major General Tran Van Tho, Commander of Coast Guard Region 1, acknowledged and commended the members of the working delegation on ship CSB 8004 for their solidarity, excellent completion of the mission, and achievement of the set goals and requirements.
How modern is the CSB 8004?
According to 189 LLC (General Department of Defense Industry), CSB 8004 is a modern ship of the Vietnam Coast Guard, with an advanced design, meeting and complying with all international standards, and has been adjusted to optimize features, better meeting the operational requirements of the Coast Guard.
The ship is 90.5 m long, 14 m wide, has a maximum draft of 4 m, and a displacement of about 2,400 tons. The ship has a crew of 30 people and a rescue crew of 40 people. The ship can participate in search and rescue operations with a capacity of 120 people for eating and sleeping, and can tow a ship with a displacement of 2,200 tons. The ship is capable of operating at an unlimited level, with a continuous operating time of 40 days and nights at sea, and a range of 5,000 nautical miles.
The ship has a landing pad for medium-sized helicopters up to 14 tons, two high-speed fire-resistant lifeboats, able to withstand high temperatures and waves of level 12, powered by solar batteries, each of which can carry up to 37 people.
The ship is equipped with the most modern communication system. All activities of the ship are controlled by an automatic system. The ship has a system to identify domestic and foreign ships registered to operate in Vietnam's waters.
