On November 14, the French Navy cruiser Prairial, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Wallerand Faivre D'Arcier, docked at Tien Sa port ( Da Nang city), beginning a 6-day courtesy visit to the city.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang City, the Command of Military Region 5, the Command of Naval Region 3, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2, and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs ( Ministry of National Defense ).

During their stay, the ship's commanding officers will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee, Military Region 5, and Naval Region 3; the crew will participate in professional and sports exchanges with the Vietnam Navy and Coast Guard; and visit some local cultural sites.

The visit is part of a series of annual exchange activities between the two navies, in line with the orientation of enhancing defense cooperation and contributing to consolidating the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established since 2024.

The French Navy cruiser Prairial carries a total of 93 crew members. The ship is 93.5m long, about 14m wide, and weighs nearly 3,000 tons. The ship is equipped with guns and a mobile helicopter at the stern.

Previously, in April 2024, the French Navy's Vendemiaire cruiser with 98 officers, non-commissioned officers and crew members commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Sebastien Drouelle docked at Tien Sa port to visit Da Nang city.
