French Navy cruiser Prairial pays courtesy visit to Da Nang

On November 14, the French Navy cruiser Prairial, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Wallerand Faivre D'Arcier, docked at Tien Sa port ( Da Nang ), beginning a six-day courtesy visit to the city.

The visit is an annual exchange and cooperation activity between the two countries' navies, in line with the orientation of enhancing defense cooperation, contributing to consolidating the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established since 2024.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were representatives of the City Department of Foreign Affairs; Military Region 5 Command; Navy Region 3 Command; Coast Guard Region 2 Command; and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs ( Ministry of National Defense ).

On the French side were Lieutenant Colonel Wallerand Faivre D'Arcier, Commander of the Prairial cruiser; Ms. Marie Keller - Charge d'Affaires of the French Embassy and Mr. Etienne Ranaivoson - Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City.

The welcome ceremony took place in a solemn, open and friendly atmosphere.

During their visit to Da Nang, the Prairial ship's commanding officers will pay courtesy calls to the leaders of the city's People's Committee, Military Region 5 and Naval Region 3. Officers and sailors from both sides will hold professional exchanges; participate in sports activities with officers and officers of the Vietnamese Navy and Coast Guard; and visit some local cultural and historical sites.

The visit of the Prairial ship contributes to enhancing mutual understanding, maintaining dialogue, practicing cooperation contents at sea, thereby promoting a peaceful, stable, secure and safe maritime environment.

This activity also promotes the image of Da Nang city, a tourist destination, to international friends, creating more opportunities for people-to-people exchange and cooperation in many other fields.
