According to the latest announcement from the US Navy's 7th Fleet, the US Coast Guard's Legend-class patrol ship USCGC Stratton (WMSL 752) passed through the Taiwan Strait on June 20.

The statement said the transit was conducted in an area where freedom of navigation operations are permitted under international law. "The Stratton's transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the US commitment to a free and open Indo- Pacific . The US military will fly, sail, and operate anywhere international law allows," the statement said.
Mainland China and Taiwan have not commented on the move.
The Stratton's operation came just a day after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken concluded a visit to China, during which the two sides agreed to stabilize relations to prevent conflict.

US and allied warships regularly pass through the Taiwan Strait, and China often reacts angrily to these activities, viewing them as provocative.
In early June, the US Navy released a video showing a Chinese warship moving across the path of the US destroyer USS Chung Hoon, as the US warship and a Canadian ship moved through the Taiwan Strait.
On the other hand, the movement of the US Coast Guard ship came a day before Taiwan's Defense Ministry announced that China's Shandong aircraft carrier led a group of warships through the Taiwan Strait.
