According to Military, the Brimstone missile developed by MBDA is a high-precision attack missile, designed with many launch configurations including from aircraft, ground platforms and warships. The British Army officially put Brimstone into service in 2005.

The system operates in two modes: semi-active laser guidance or automatic target recognition via millimeter-wave radar, allowing optimal target selection in the combat area while eliminating civilian vehicles or unimportant targets.
Brimstone weighs about 50kg, carries a shaped charge warhead weighing more than 6kg, and is compatible with many platforms such as fighter jets, helicopters, and UAVs. This is a "fire and forget" weapon, the pilot only needs to input mission parameters before launching, and the missile automatically handles the rest. Thanks to the combination of radar, laser, and inertial guidance system, Brimstone can operate in the dark, in bad weather, and in complex battlefield environments.

The range of the ground-launched version is not publicly known, while the air-launched version can reach 7-25 km. The missile has a maximum speed of approximately Mach 1.3 and is capable of penetrating standard steel armor. In addition, Brimstone allows the operator to intervene in flight if a mistake is made about the target, thereby minimizing the risk of unintentional damage to civilians and civilian facilities.
The Brimstone missile has many variants developed to meet modern combat needs. The original version uses active millimeter-wave radar guidance, optimized for destroying tanks and armored targets with fire-and-forget capability.

Later, Brimstone Dual Mode was added with semi-active laser guidance to increase accuracy when hitting fast moving targets or needing to choose a more precise attack point. Brimstone 2 generation has comprehensive upgrades, especially the engine and guidance system, extending the range and improving efficiency in all weather conditions.
In the naval field, the Sea Spear variant, also known as Sea Brimstone, is designed to fight small boats and coastal targets, while retaining dual guidance capabilities. The most advanced version today is Brimstone 3, which has high jamming resistance, better target recognition intelligence, and a range of over 60 km when launched from an aircraft.
