Proactively stabilize the market.

Identifying market stabilization during the Tet holiday as a top priority, the Provincial People's Committee proactively implemented a comprehensive set of early management solutions to prevent the market from being caught off guard when purchasing power increases. From mid-January 2026, the Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to stabilize the commodity market before, during, and after Tet, implementing it earlier than in previous years and extending beyond Tet. The stabilization period runs from December 30, 2025, to February 20, 2026; market monitoring and inspection will be maintained until March 15, 2026, demonstrating a continuous management approach that will not be relaxed after the peak Tet season.

This year, the price stabilization list includes 12 essential product groups such as: food, fresh and processed food, essential consumer goods, gasoline, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas. The distribution network has been expanded, covering all 102 communes, wards, and special zones, with priority given to rural areas, border regions, and islands.

Based on that, the Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with relevant sectors, localities, and businesses, developed a plan for large-scale stockpiling and regulation of goods. Fifteen businesses across the province registered to participate in the program, forming 361 price-stabilized sales points, with a total estimated value of stockpiled goods of approximately 225 billion VND, an increase of 15-20% compared to a normal month.

Specifically, large quantities of food items were prepared, including 579 tons of rice, over 1.36 million poultry eggs, 118,450 kg of pork, and hundreds of thousands of kilograms of vegetables and fruits. Fuel, oil, and liquefied petroleum gas were ensured with over 29.5 million liters of gasoline, 26.7 million liters of diesel, and 2,145,000 gas cylinders. Notably, the province allocated resources to deliver goods to island areas. Approximately 500 million VND in transportation support funds were allocated to help people in coastal and island regions access essential goods at reasonable prices, minimizing the disparity caused by transportation costs.

Regarding the direction of market management during Tet (Lunar New Year), Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, Nguyen Thanh Phong, emphasized: "Stabilizing the Tet market must be implemented early, synchronously, and with strict control. The goal is to prevent shortages, avoid unreasonable price increases, ensure social welfare, and create a sense of security for the people during Tet."

Safety comes first.

Along with preparing the supply of goods, An Giang is strengthening inspection and supervision measures to maintain market order, protect consumer rights, and prevent unsafe food from circulating in the market. Based on the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade organized inspection teams to monitor the supply of price-stabilized goods in many areas, including island communes and special economic zones. The monitoring focused on price listing, selling at the registered price, origin, quality of goods, food safety, and commercial etiquette. These monitoring campaigns were conducted before, during, and after Tet (Lunar New Year), ensuring there were no gaps in management.

Authorities under the Provincial Steering Committee 389 have intensified market control, promptly detecting and handling acts of smuggling, trade fraud, speculation, hoarding, counterfeit goods, and substandard products. Fire prevention and control at markets, shopping centers, and crowded areas have been tightened; food safety is controlled from production and distribution to consumption.

According to the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, Nguyen Thong Nhat, stabilizing the Tet market is not just about ensuring sufficient goods, but more importantly, maintaining stable prices, guaranteeing quality, and ensuring safety for consumers. The Department conducts thorough inspections and supervision, focusing on areas prone to violations, especially during the peak Tet shopping season.

Ms. Tran Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of Co.opmart Rach Gia, said: “The unit has proactively increased its inventory, committed to maintaining stable prices, and ensuring the quality and origin of products. We recognize our responsibility to work alongside the local authorities in stabilizing the market so that people can shop for Tet conveniently and with peace of mind.”

The market in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) shows that price stabilization measures are effective. Prices are stable, supply is abundant, and price-stabilized sales points are operating as committed. According to Ms. Le Thi Thuy An, a resident of Tan Chau ward, Tet shopping this year is more convenient, with a wide variety of goods and clear pricing, creating a sense of security when making choices.

Beyond simply serving the Tet holiday season, these solutions to stabilize and ensure market safety during Tet also lay the foundation for building a more stable, transparent, and disciplined market. Maintaining post-Tet monitoring, improving long-term stabilization programs linked to digital transformation in commerce, and strengthening supply chains will be necessary directions for An Giang to both take good care of its people's lives and create momentum for sustainable economic development in the new year.
