The central character of the story is the wild horse, Whirlwind. Originating from the free forests where horses roam without restraint, Whirlwind accidentally wanders into the rural, riverside countryside of Southern Vietnam. There, he finds people, villages, everyday life, and a heartwarming Tet (Lunar New Year) approaching. This unexpected encounter becomes the starting point for his journey of discovery into a new world , and also a journey into the inner world of the wild horse accustomed to speed and solitude.

"A Loving Year of the Horse" doesn't follow the typical pattern of building dramatic climaxes or intense conflicts. The story is told at a slow pace, rich in imagery, allowing each small detail to gradually seep into the reader's emotions. Through each chapter, familiar scenes of Tet (Vietnamese New Year) emerge: the warm glow of the hearth, the steaming pot of braised pork and eggs, the simmering banh chung (traditional rice cake), the scent of banana leaves in the breeze, the lingering smoke from the kitchen chimney, or the bustling floating market with its boats on the river...
These images not only serve as a backdrop for the story, but also create a space of memories, where children can imagine a complete and fulfilling Tet holiday, while adults can easily rediscover fragments of their own childhood.
Alongside the depiction of Tet holiday activities is a subtle transformation in Whirlwind's soul. From a horse that only knew how to race, feared constraints, and always rejected limitations, Whirlwind gradually learns to slow down. He begins to observe the world around him, listen to seemingly insignificant things, and learn from the simple people in the riverside countryside.

The quiet patience of Mr. Ba Khia, the gentleness of Bui Sao, and the innocent, pure feelings of Little Tí left a deep mark on that journey. Through clumsy encounters and unprecedented experiences, Cyclone gradually realized that there are threads that don't bind us, but silently hold us together with love.
Therefore, "Tet of the Horse, Love" transcends the boundaries of a simple story about Tet. The work evokes a return to home, to community, and to the simple yet enduring values of life. The book is a gentle message about love, connection, and the journey of finding one's true home.
