Early Tet celebrations in solidarity homes.

A new spring has arrived, bringing with it so much hope. For the poor and disadvantaged households in Vinh Binh commune who have just received support to build solidarity houses, that joy is multiplied because they can celebrate Tet in their new homes, warm with love and compassion.

In the final days of the year, accompanied by leaders of Vinh Binh commune and local organizations, we visited the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Han, residing in Binh Minh hamlet. In his spacious new house, joy was evident on his weathered face. Clasping the hand of Mr. Vo Thanh Xuan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Vinh Binh commune – Mr. Han said emotionally, “I never thought my family would have such a beautiful and warm house like this. I'm so happy, Uncle!”

Mr. Han's family had no land for farming, and their lives mainly depended on hired labor, resulting in unstable income. For many years, they lived in a dilapidated house. With the local government's support of 60 million VND to build a solidarity house, his family no longer worries about the weather and has a stable place to live, allowing them to focus on their work. For him, this is an invaluable Tet gift.

Leaving Binh Minh hamlet, we continued our visit to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, residing in Hoa Hiep hamlet. Thanks to the Vinh Binh commune's efforts in mobilizing benefactors to provide 60 million VND for construction, her new house is nearing completion. Although not overly luxurious, for Ms. Hong, it is the dream home she has longed for after many years of hardship. Ms. Hong shared: "I used to wish for just a place to shelter from the sun and rain, but I never imagined I would be able to celebrate Tet in such a sturdy house this year."

The joy of celebrating Tet in a new home not only reached Mr. Han and Mrs. Hong's family but also spread to many poor and disadvantaged households in Vinh Binh commune. Over the past period, the local Party committee, government, Fatherland Front, and mass organizations have consistently shown concern for the people's lives through various practical means, with support for building solidarity houses and helping people settle down being identified as a priority.

In 2025, as part of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Vinh Binh commune supported the construction and repair of 132 houses, with a total cost of nearly 8.4 billion VND; and coordinated with philanthropists to sponsor the construction of 28 houses, amounting to over 2 billion VND. Mr. Vo Thanh Xuan said: "Entering the new year 2026, the commune will continue to mobilize maximum resources to care for the people."

Currently, Vinh Binh commune is urgently completing and handing over many solidarity houses to poor and disadvantaged households in time for Tet (Lunar New Year). The local authorities also donated many gifts and essential items to help families stabilize their lives and have a warmer and more fulfilling Tet. The support for building solidarity houses not only has material significance but also deeply reflects the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance within the community. This affirms the role of the local government, the Fatherland Front, and other organizations in connecting and spreading the spirit of mutual support, contributing to strengthening national unity and building a more developed and compassionate Vinh Binh homeland.
