The program runs from January 17th to March 17th at the Cultural and Arts Center, 22 Hang Buom Street. The "Vietnamese Tet - Street Tet" Spring Market showcases and introduces the finest products from traditional handicraft villages.
Places like Kim Ngan Temple, the 40 Lan Ong historical site, and Dong Lac Temple have become spaces for unique experiences: from enjoying medicinal tea and participating in traditional Tet activities to a lacquer exhibition themed "Year of the Horse with the Colors of Hanoi Lacquer". The cultural space has also been expanded to the Hoan Kiem Lake area with the "Spring Colors of the Year of the Horse" exhibition at 2 Le Thai To Street.
More than just an ordinary festival, this is where Hanoi residents and tourists can fully experience the essence of traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) in the capital's most unique heritage setting. With the overarching goal of restoring traditional Tet to its rightful place as a living cultural space, this year's program is expected to create unforgettable memories of a Tet celebration deeply rooted in Hanoi's culture.
A key highlight of "Vietnamese Tet – Street Tet" 2026 is the creation of a continuous cultural connection between the historical sites in the Old Quarter and the open space of Hoan Kiem Lake. For the first time, the historical site at 22 Hang Buom Street has been chosen to recreate a Tet atmosphere and Tet market typical of the Northern Delta region.

Alongside this, the heritage house at 87 Ma May Street, after a period of restoration, officially opened its doors to visitors, allowing everyone to step into the warm and cozy living space of a traditional Hanoi family during the days leading up to Tet, from trimming daffodils to arranging the ancestral altar.
Traditional ceremonies are also organized on a new scale and with a fresh approach, attracting direct community participation. The procession and the erection of the Nêu tree, indispensable rituals every spring, will start from Ô Quan Chưởng - the historical city gate, then pass through the bustling old streets to merge into the pedestrian area around Hoàn Kiếm Lake.

The "Vietnamese Tet - Street Tet" program is not only an opportunity to relive beautiful memories of Tet in the past, but also a cultural activity to introduce to international friends a Vietnam rich in identity, friendly, and hospitable. Photo: Thanh Tung - VNA
Highly interactive activities such as wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) on the 25th day of the 12th lunar month, the "Traditional Tet Traditions - Modern Tet" program featuring strolling through the streets in traditional ao dai costumes, and visiting Hang Luoc flower market promise to provide beautiful check-in spots for young people.
In particular, the essence of traditional music will be vividly recreated through the "Traditional Music of the City" program by the Dong Kinh Ancient Music group and the captivating art of Ca Tru singing in the "Han Lap Nha Ca" presentation night. Through this, "Vietnamese Tet - City Tet" is not only an opportunity for Hanoians to relive their memories, but also a gateway for international friends to discover a Vietnam rich in identity, sincerity, and hospitality.
With this program, the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board once again affirms its pivotal role in preserving and promoting heritage values.
More than just a series of events, this is a profound heritage education effort for the younger generation, linking conservation with sustainable tourism development and the creative economy . All of this aims to create an image of a creative Hanoi, where tradition and modernity coexist, shining brightly in the springtime of the capital in 2026.
