Vu Quang National Park (Ha Tinh province), in coordination with the Hoang Lien Tourism and Wildlife Conservation Center (Hoang Lien National Park, Lao Cai province), recently released 23 rare monkeys back into their natural environment.

Of the 23 monkeys released in this batch, the Hoang Lien Wildlife Conservation and Tourism Center (Hoang Lien National Park, Lao Cai province) handed over and released 14 individuals back into their natural environment, including: 7 red-faced monkeys ( scientific name: Macaca arctoides), 2 macaques (scientific name: Macaca assamensis), 3 pig-tailed macaques (scientific name: Macaca leonina), and 2 rhesus monkeys (scientific name: Macaca mulatta).

Vu Quang National Park also released nine individuals of the red-faced monkey, golden monkey, and pig-tailed monkey species, which are rare animals belonging to Group IIB, listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world . These rare wild animals were voluntarily handed over by local people beforehand.

This marks the first wildlife reintroduction by Vu Quang National Park in 2026. The coordinated release of 23 rare monkeys back into their natural habitat demonstrates the park's and relevant agencies' efforts in biodiversity conservation. As a habitat for many rare animal species, each time Vu Quang National Park returns an individual to its natural environment, it is considered a success, making a significant contribution to the protection and sustainable development of the ecosystem. The park will continue to monitor the animals to ensure their safe reintegration and healthy development.
