Advanced technology
The agreement was signed at Hyundai Rotem headquarters (Seoul, Korea) between Mr. Lee Yong-bae - General Director of Hyundai Rotem and Mr. Tran Ba Duong - Chairman of THACO Board of Directors, when Vietnam is implementing a strategy to develop the railway industry along with a plan to strongly build a railway transport network in Vietnam.
According to the signed agreement, Hyundai Rotem will transfer to THACO the most advanced technologies in the railway industry to organize domestic production of urban trains and high-speed trains under the THACO brand.
Hyundai Rotem also cooperated in building an integrated system from rolling stock to signal information system and other E&M items in a synchronous manner, helping THACO gradually master the entire technology chain, from production - operation management - maintenance, repair and maintenance effectively, optimize costs and meet international standards.
THACO will invest in building a Railway Industrial Complex including a locomotive and wagon manufacturing area, a closed testing track system and a modern major repair center at the Mechanical and Supporting Industry Industrial Park with an area of 786 hectares in Binh Co ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Journey of Cooperation
Previously, from June 19 to 20, 2025, THACO's leadership delegation visited and worked with Hyundai Rotem, attended the Railway Exhibition at Bexco Center and visited Hyundai Rotem's factory.

On August 12, 2025, the two sides signed and exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation at the Vietnam - Korea Economic Forum, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and senior leaders of the two countries.

From September 9 to 11, 2025, General Director Lee Yong-bae and the Hyundai Rotem Leadership Delegation visited and worked in Vietnam.
Here, Hyundai Rotem and THACO met with Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai, and Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong to report on the cooperation program for developing high-speed railways and urban railways.
Along with that, the two sides presented technology and cooperation plans in the field of urban railways to the then Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Nguyen Van Duoc.

On the morning of December 4, 2025, THACO's leadership delegation also surveyed the Shinbundang Metro line, one of the lines applying fully automated operation technology (GoA4), unmanned, all activities are controlled by an intelligent system operating 24/7 with almost absolute accuracy.
The delegation also visited the Maintenance and Repair Center at Depot DXLine to learn about the maintenance model, technical processes and modern operation and maintenance solutions that Hyundai Rotem is applying in Korea.
