STATEMENTS OF OFFICIALS
Mr. Gongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), affirmed that the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games will be "unique". He said: "I myself watched the opening rehearsal, with the participation of more than 500 school and university students. The performance will reflect the country's sporting potential. I will not say anything more, because I do not want to dampen everyone's excitement. I can assure you that, based on my own experience of witnessing the opening ceremonies of countless events, our opening ceremony will be the best." Meanwhile, Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, former Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, emphasized that the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games will bring surprises and unforgettable impressions to local people and tourists, making the "Green SEA Games" (aimed at protecting the environment) a model for future events.

Currently, Rajamangala Stadium, where the opening ceremony will take place, LED lights, and the main stage of the event have been installed. The main stage is designed in the shape of a sailboat gliding on the water. Therefore, a small water tank has also been set up at this stadium. In addition to the sound and light performances that highlight the national identity of Thailand, the host country brings a youthful, modern "breath". The organizing committee has invited artist BamBam, whose real name is Kunpimook Bhuwakul from the famous Korean music group GOT7, to perform. BamBam and a number of other Thai artists will have impressive performances.
A notable part of the opening ceremony was the parade of sports delegations around the stadium. The organizing committee arranged the order of delegations based on the alphabet. Therefore, the Vietnamese sports delegation went near the end, right before the host Thailand with 2 flag-bearers: Le Thanh Thuy (volleyball) and Le Thanh Thuan (karate).
THAI PEOPLE WANT A GREAT OPENING CEREMONY
Thailand is a country with rich experience in organizing sporting events from the region to the continent, based on a good foundation of modern facilities. They have hosted the SEA Games the most times in history. Therefore, the media as well as sports fans in the Southeast Asian region believe that the 33rd SEA Games will be a successful, systematic, international-standard event, as the organizing committee announced a few months ago.
However, the organization of the 33rd SEA Games is facing many problems. The organizing committee had to apologize to the U.23 Vietnam and Laos teams. The reason was that in the match between U.23 Vietnam and U.23 Laos on December 3, the national anthems of the two teams were not played, forcing the players to sing a cappella. The lights at Rajamangala Stadium were also broken, forcing the U.23 Thailand and Timor Leste players to play in low light conditions. As of the afternoon of December 6, workers were still having to fix the lights. The management of Rajamangala Stadium even had to borrow more lights from Nakhon Ratchasima Stadium.
Sharing with Thanh Nien reporters, some Thai reporters also said that the mistake in the match between U.23 Vietnam and U.23 Laos was unacceptable in a regional congress.
Thai public opinion is not reassured when mistakes continue to occur in recent days and they hope that after the opening ceremony, mistakes will no longer be present at the competition venues, so that the organization of the 33rd SEA Games will be recognized by countries in the region.
In addition, Thai people also hope that the opening ceremony will be truly "excellent" as promised by officials, to introduce the culture, identity and image of Thailand and its people to international friends, as this country has organized previous SEA Games very well.
