The 33rd SEA Games organizing committee made another serious mistake when it mistook the Singapore flag for Indonesia's during the opening ceremony on the evening of December 9.

This is the third time in just two months that Thailand has confused the national flags of countries in the region at tournaments they host.

In October, Thailand mistakenly used the Chinese flag in the draw named after Vietnam, at the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship.

This mistake created a storm of public opinion, forcing the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) to send a delegation to Vietnam to apologize.

Earlier this month, Thailand made a similar mistake in the women's futsal schedule at the 33rd SEA Games.

Specifically, the 33rd SEA Games organizing committee used the wrong national flags for both teams, Indonesia and Thailand. In the information section of the Indonesian team, they used the flag of Laos. In the box of their own team, Thailand used the flag of... Vietnam.

In the days before the 33rd SEA Games kicked off, host Thailand's organization of the event was continuously criticized due to delays and errors.

The 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20 in Thailand. The Vietnamese sports delegation will consist of 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches, and 19 experts, competing in 47 of the 66 sports, with 443 of the 573 events.

The head of the Vietnamese sports delegation is Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports.

The goal of the Vietnamese sports delegation is to win 91-110 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games, ranking in the top 3 of the medal table.
