According to the Decision, the revised program aims to develop housing to meet the needs of people in the province for new construction and renovation; diversify housing types, focusing on affordable housing and social housing. At the same time, the province aims to develop the housing real estate market in a sustainable and transparent manner, linked to land use planning and construction planning, and to limit speculation and waste of land resources.
During the period 2021-2025, Thai Nguyen province plans to develop approximately 10.92 million m² of new housing floor space, raising the average housing area per person in the province to about 30.5 m². By the period 2026-2030, the newly developed housing floor space is expected to reach approximately 12.86 million m², bringing the average target to 35 m² per person by 2030.
Notably, the revised program sets a target of completing approximately 24,800 social housing units throughout the period, with over 23,700 units specifically for the 2026-2030 period, contributing to the Government 's plan to build at least 1 million social housing units.
The total capital requirement for housing development in the province during the 2021-2030 period is estimated at approximately 177,000 billion VND, mainly mobilized from businesses and individuals; the state budget will focus on housing support programs for war veterans, poor households, eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, and providing official housing for the armed forces.
The revised program also identifies 92 areas in wards and communes throughout the province where housing development projects are planned, with a total area of approximately 15,718 hectares, serving as a basis for planning, attracting investment, and managing urban and rural development in the future.
