Visit the green circular economy model

Within the framework of the program summarizing the Project "Minimizing negative impacts on the environment related to the exploitation of construction materials and landfill, especially sand in Ca Mau", on the afternoon of December 9, the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of Ca Mau province coordinated with the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) to organize a tour of the green circular economic model in Khanh Binh commune.

The delegation visited Nhat Huy Cooperative in Ong Bich Hamlet. This is a cooperative managed by women members, specializing in producing products from turmeric.

The representative of the Cooperative introduced to the delegation the Cooperative's raw material growing area and the processing process to create products such as turmeric powder, turmeric starch and by-products from turmeric, in the direction of making maximum use of raw materials and minimizing waste to the environment.

Through the field visit, Ms. Nguyen Lam Tuyen, a member of the delegation, highly appreciated the optimization of raw materials of Nhat Huy Cooperative, from fresh turmeric to by-products are all utilized to create products. This is a practical model that can be replicated in many other localities.

Delegation members discussed and suggested to Nhat Huy Cooperative directions for developing more products from turmeric.

Ms. Lam Hang Ni, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of Nhat Huy Cooperative, said that the Cooperative was established in 2022. The turmeric starch product has achieved 3-star OCOP , and the output has been expanded. The Cooperative aims to expand the turmeric growing area and produce in a safe, environmentally friendly direction, contributing to creating jobs for local women.

"The delegation's visit is an opportunity for the cooperative to spread the model and receive more opinions to perfect the process, opening up new directions for turmeric development in the locality," Ms. Lam Hang shared.
