This afternoon, July 1, the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Committee worked with the Department of Planning and Investment and related units to review the submission and draft Resolution approving the investment policy for the project to preserve, restore and upgrade key revolutionary historical relics in Quang Tri province. The project to preserve, restore and upgrade key revolutionary historical relics in Quang Tri province (component projects: General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site; Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Museum; Vinh Moc Tunnels Relic Site) has been approved for investment by the Provincial People's Council in Resolution 71/NQ-HDND dated June 25, 2021.
However, the project of the second city - Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Museum has not been implemented yet due to budget difficulties, problems with site clearance, and resettlement for households affected by the planned investment location outside the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee has submitted an adjustment document to make the project feasible in practice.
According to Document No. 124/TTr-UBND dated June 28, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Museum component project was adjusted to a new construction location in Area I, the core area of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Relic Site.
Regarding the scale of the project, it consists of 2 components including the construction of a 1-storey exhibition house with a construction area of about 800 m2 ; the interior exhibition is expected to include 4 main exhibition contents such as: Celebration space, Historical memory space, Nostalgic space, 3D cinema experience space. The total investment is 45 billion VND. Other contents remain the same according to Resolution No. 71 of the Provincial People's Council.
At the meeting, delegates discussed and clarified the contents of the architectural plan such as construction location, flood control elevation, space for displaying artifacts, documents, simulation models, etc.
Based on the opinions of the members of the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Committee and the explanations of relevant units, Head of the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Committee Ho Thi Thu Hang emphasized: The Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Museum project has a particularly important significance in the system of revolutionary historical relics, so it is necessary to invest early to promote the value and commensurate with the importance of the relic site, in which it is necessary to pay attention to the long-term factor of the project.
Regarding the architectural plan, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Museum needs to create an attraction and appeal to visitors, especially the young generation in traditionaleducation . In particular, it is necessary to use advanced and modern technologies to recreate the events of 81 days and nights of the war to protect the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; the life and fighting of the army and people - generations of fathers and brothers in the war to protect the Ancient Citadel.
Due to the importance of the project, it is recommended that the relevant agencies promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee for comments on the architectural plan. After the Standing Committee has comments, the Committee for Culture and Society will review and submit to the Provincial People's Council for approval to soon implement the project.
