In Lang Nu village, Bao Yen district alone, floods and landslides completely buried 33 houses.
To support the restoration of people's lives, the Government and the People's Committee of Lao Cai province have directed the relevant agencies to coordinate with PC Lao Cai to implement resettlement work, in which the task of providing electricity is the top priority. The project of providing electricity to rebuild these residential areas has a total investment of over 7.6 billion VND, of which the project in Lang Nu accounts for over 3 billion VND.
Although the project was scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2024, due to urgent requirements, the Electricity sector has worked closely with contractors to complete the project 45 days ahead of schedule. The early restoration of electricity not only serves people's daily lives but also helps them develop production as soon as resettlement is stable.
Mr. Nguyen Van Du, Director of Bao Yen Electricity, Lao Cai PC said: The project to supply electricity to Lang Nu village includes 0.97 km of 35 kV line, 1 250kVA - 35/0.4kV overhead transformer station, 1.55 km of 0.4 kV line using 95mm AlXLPE twisted cable and other important infrastructure items. Providing electricity directly to 69 households in the village will help people stabilize their lives and production soon.
On the day of the power connection, Mr. Sam Van Bong, a resident of Lang Nu village, could not hide his joy and emotion as he shared: "On behalf of the villagers, I would like to thank the government and the Electricity sector for their concern in bringing electricity to the resettlement area. Electricity is not only light, but also the strength for us to start our lives again after the natural disaster."
Mr. Tran Trong Thong, Chairman of Bao Yen District People's Committee said: As soon as the storm passed, the Electricity sector quickly took action, surveyed the damage, made a plan to restore the power system and quickly deployed the items.
In particular, the earlier than expected return of national grid power to resettlement areas is a clear demonstration of the dedication and commitment of the Electricity sector to people in disadvantaged areas affected by natural disasters."
Mr. Thong added: "Our government and people really appreciate the efforts of Lao Cai Electricity Company. Having electricity early not only helps people quickly stabilize their lives, but also opens up opportunities for economic development. The Electricity industry has worked day and night, despite the difficult mountainous terrain and large workload, which is truly admirable. We hope that PC Lao Cai will continue to maintain and promote that spirit in serving the people."
Bringing the national grid back to the damaged areas is not only a task, but also the passion of those working in the electricity industry in the journey of attachment and companionship with the people and local authorities.
This is a testament to the consensus of authorities at all levels, businesses and people in the effort to revive and sustainably develop the Lao Cai highlands.
