Accordingly, on New Year's Eve of the Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ), Thanh Hóa province organized fireworks displays at 4 locations, with Lam Sơn Square having the largest scale with 180 sets; the remaining 3 locations, organized for the first time, were in border areas of Thanh Hóa province, including the communes of Mường Lát, Quan Sơn, and Hồi Xuân, each commune having 60 sets of fireworks.
According to a document issued by the Provincial People's Committee, the locality will organize a low-altitude fireworks display to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. The fireworks display time has been standardized throughout the province, starting at 00:00 on February 17, 2026 (the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Horse). Regarding the funding, the entire fireworks display will be funded through social contributions and will not use state budget funds.

In the most remote border commune, Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Tai, Commander of the Military Command of Muong Lat commune, said: "By 3 PM today (February 16th), all preparations for the fireworks display in Muong Lat commune have been completed. We have mobilized 100% of our personnel, coordinating closely with the local police, electricity, and medical forces, along with the police force. Under the direct guidance and technical direction of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command, a total of over 30 officers have completed all preparations, ensuring that the first-ever low-altitude fireworks display will be held in the border commune of Muong Lat."

Colonel Nguyen Trong Nhi, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command, said: "We have established four working groups, directly supervising the Regional Defense Command to inspect all preparations and operations for the fireworks display at four locations. To ensure absolute safety, the installation work was carried out meticulously, strictly adhering to regulations on the management and use of fireworks. The forces participating in operating the fireworks have been thoroughly trained, and all preparations have been completed, ensuring the fireworks display will be absolutely safe. In particular, the participating forces strictly adhere to safety regulations while performing their duties, such as: no smoking, no use of mobile phones or lighters, and no use of objects that create sparks or electricity; the entire process was carried out in accordance with regulations…".
This is a meaningful activity aimed at creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, arousing patriotism and fostering national pride, and strengthening the people's trust in the leadership of the Party and the State on the eve of the New Year.
