Establishment of the Vietnam Athletics Federation's Professional Board: Strengthening professional capacity, aiming for ASIAD and Olympic goals

TPO - The Vietnam Athletics Federation has officially issued a Decision to establish the Professional Board for the 8th term (2025 - 2029). This is an important step to strengthen management, training and professional development capacity, aiming to improve the achievements of Vietnamese athletics in the international arena.

Pursuant to current legal regulations and the Charter of the Vietnam Athletics Federation approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs , President of the Vietnam Athletics Federation Hoang Ve Dung signed a decision to establish a 7-member Professional Board, headed by Mr. Pham The Trieu - Vice President of the Vietnam Athletics Federation.

The structure of the Professional Board includes Mr. Tran Xuan Thanh (Army) - Deputy Head of the Board; members include Mr. Nguyen Duc Nguyen (Vietnam Sports Department), Mr. Dang Hoai An (Bac Ninh University of Sports), Mr. Nguyen Manh Hieu (National Center for Training of High-Level Athletes), Mr. Tran Anh Hiep (Da Nang) and Mr. Trinh Duc Thanh (Ho Chi Minh City).

According to the decision, the Professional Board will play a focal role in implementing the Project on developing Vietnam's athletics until 2030, with a vision to 2045. The Board is responsible for developing training and coaching programs for athletes and coaches in accordance with professional requirements and international standards; coordinating with state management agencies to organize training and fostering teams of coaches at all levels; proposing criteria and standards for selecting members of the national team and developing annual training plans for youth teams and national teams.

Strategic goal: Aiming for ASIAD medals and Olympic standards

One of the key objectives of the Professional Board is to select about 20 talented athletes for long-term training abroad, creating a breakthrough in performance to win gold medals at the ASIAD and meet Olympic standards.

At the same time, the Board will coordinate with localities, sectors and national sports training centers to plan the training of 30 to 40 national-level coaches, supplementing the national team and youth team in the coming years.

In addition to the task of training and recruiting human resources, the Professional Board is also responsible for coordinating with functional units to survey, consult on the design and development of a system of centers and athletics training facilities nationwide, ensuring national and international standards. At the same time, the Board will provide professional support to localities, units, clubs, and promote the mass athletics training movement, especially among workers, students and armed forces.

The establishment of the Professional Board marks an important step in the organization, management and development of the Vietnam Athletics Federation. With a team of experienced professionals and a long-term development orientation, the Federation hopes to create a solid foundation for Vietnamese athletics to continue to maintain its leading position in Southeast Asia, aiming to conquer the Asian and Olympic arenas in the coming years.
