Establishment of Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province

According to Decision No. 3333/QD-BGDDT dated December 1 of the Ministry of Education and Training , Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province will be established on the basis of Dien Bien Pedagogical College and Dien Bien Medical College.

Thai Nguyen University is responsible for reporting to the Ministry of Education and Training, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province and relevant ministries and branches to organize the handover and reception of civil servants, employees, students, finance, assets, facilities, equipment and related documents of Dien Bien Pedagogical College and Dien Bien Medical College according to the provisions of law. Report to the Ministry of Education and Training on the conditions to ensure educational quality to allow Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province to carry out training activities according to the provisions of law.

Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province has the function of training at university, postgraduate and college levels in specific fields; scientific research, technology transfer; international cooperation, participation in research, consulting, and policy review for sustainable socio-economic development for Dien Bien province and the region.

In the period of 2026 - 2030, Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province plans to train 8 - 9 university-level majors; maintain training in 2 specific majors at college level: Preschool Education, Nursing. Continue to enroll and train 3 intermediate-level majors (Nursing, General Practitioner, Pharmacy) and stop enrolling in this training level according to the roadmap prescribed by the Government and the Ministry of Health. Recruit and organize training in master's-level majors (of member universities of Thai Nguyen University) according to the needs of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region.

With the responsibility of a regional university, the establishment and development of 3 branches in the provinces of Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien further affirms the important role and position of Thai Nguyen University in implementing national political tasks and developing the socio-economic border areas of the Fatherland.

Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province has the function of training at university, postgraduate and college levels in Preschool Education and Nursing.

The establishment of Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province is of special importance, with political, economic and social significance, in line with the policy and planning, re-arrangement of the network of universities and pedagogical schools, practical development as well as meeting the requirements of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security for Dien Bien province and the provinces in the region. Establishing a high-quality university and postgraduate training facility, scientific research and technology transfer, supporting community development in Dien Bien province.

At the same time, training and fostering to improve the qualifications, knowledge, skills, expertise, teaching experience, university management for the teaching staff of Dien Bien province, creating the premise for the establishment of Dien Bien Phu University. Meeting the need to strengthen and expand international cooperation in the fields of training, scientific research and technology transfer.
