Attending the military base handover ceremony in District 10 were Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council; Major General Hoang Dinh Chung, Political Commissar of Military Region 7; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, along with leaders of District 10 and more than 900 new recruits.
This year, District 10 was chosen by Ho Chi Minh City as the place to hand over military service points, organized on the campus of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. District 10 alone was allocated a quota to recruit 188 young men to join the army, including 160 quotas for military service and 28 quotas for police service.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Minh, Secretary of District 10 Party Committee, said that in addition to 188 young people of the district attending the ceremony, there were also young people from 10 districts: District 5, District 6, District 8, District 11, Tan Phu District, Binh Thanh District, Phu Nhuan District, Go Vap District, Binh Tan District and Hoc Mon District.
According to the Secretary of District 10, the country is in a period of integration, has a position in the world and the region, the people live in peace , happiness, the country is increasingly rich, civilized and modern. The country has basic advantages, but there are still many difficulties and challenges, hostile forces still use many sabotage tricks. Besides, natural disasters and epidemics are still unpredictable.
"In that situation, the country and the people really need your youth," Mr. Minh emphasized, and believed that the new recruits will strive, train hard, abide by military discipline, and excellently complete their assigned tasks.
Representing the young men joining the army this year, new recruit Nguyen Thanh Phong, a party member of Ward 9, District 10, said: "In today's ceremony, I and other young men are extremely emotional, because in just a few minutes, we will be on our way to our new home, a common home for all young men to carry out the task of protecting the Fatherland."
New recruit Nguyen Thanh Phong added: "On behalf of the 187 young men joining the army this year, I promise to always uphold and promote the revolutionary tradition of the locality; unite, progress, overcome difficulties, to integrate and adapt to the new life in the military and police environment. Strive to study, cultivate, train, strictly follow the discipline and regulations of the unit, and excellently complete all assigned tasks."
This year, Ho Chi Minh City was assigned a target of 4,906 young people joining the army, of which 3,956 young people will participate in military service and 950 young people will participate in police service.

Regarding health, more than 85% of young people performing military service this year have health level 1 or 2, exceeding by more than 15% the directive set by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. For young people joining the People's Public Security, more than 90% of citizens receiving military service orders have health level 1 or 2.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 6 female citizens participating in military service assigned to Military School of Military Region 7.
