Thanh Thuy: Releasing rare python into the natural environment

HNN.VN - On the morning of November 12, Thanh Thuy Ward People's Committee coordinated with the Protective Forest Management Board, the Southern Huong River Forest Protection Department, and related units to release a rare python into its natural habitat.

Release the python into the wild

Previously, on November 8, Mr. Phan Van Long, residing in residential group 12A, Thanh Thuy ward, discovered a large python in his garden and proactively reported it to the local authorities to hand it over.

The python was identified as a ground python (Python bivittatus), weighing 26kg, in normal health. This species is on the list of endangered, precious, and rare forest animals, group IIB, and needs to be protected according to the provisions of law.

Immediately after receiving the snake, the People's Committee of Thanh Thuy Ward and the Forest Protection Department of the South Huong River region, together with other units, coordinated to take care of and ensure safe conditions for the python before releasing it into the natural environment.

According to Mr. Tran Duy Duc, Vice Chairman of Thanh Thuy Ward People's Committee, Mr. Phan Van Long's actions demonstrate the sense of responsibility and high awareness of the people in protecting wildlife and preserving rare genetic resources.
