According to information from the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety, the 2026 inspection plan was developed based on the Party's resolutions, legal regulations on inspection, especially the 2025 Inspection Law, guiding decrees and circulars, and the Government Inspectorate 's 2026 inspection program orientation.
Through inspection activities, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Inspectorate will promptly identify limitations and inadequacies in management mechanisms, policies, and laws, thereby recommending to competent authorities improvements to the legal system related to atomic energy. Inspection work contributes to preventing, detecting, and strictly handling violations of the law, raising awareness of law compliance among organizations and individuals involved in radiation activities, and ensuring that atomic energy applications in Vietnam are implemented for peaceful , safe, and sustainable purposes.
The focus of inspections in 2026 will be on facilities conducting radiation work in the medical field. This includes central and provincial hospitals, as well as medical facilities using radioactive sources and radiation equipment for diagnosis and treatment, such as Cho Ray Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, Da Nang Oncology Hospital, Central Endocrinology Hospital, and many other general hospitals and medical facilities nationwide.
The inspection will focus on the implementation of regulations on atomic energy, radiation safety, and radioactive source security; licensing and management of radioactive sources; infrastructure and equipment conditions; personnel working in radiation; and support services for atomic energy applications (if any). Each inspection is expected to last 30 days and will be conducted in the quarters of 2026.

Many medical facilities that use radioactive sources and radiation equipment for diagnosis and treatment will be included in the inspection plan (Illustrative image).
According to the inspection plan, in 2026, inspections will be conducted on facilities performing radiation work in the industrial, customs, and other sectors. Many businesses, research institutes, and units operating in the oil and gas, geology, construction materials, chemical, paper, and aviation fuel industries will be inspected to assess their compliance with radiation and nuclear safety laws.
Expanding the scope of inspections to these areas aims to promptly detect and rectify radiation safety risks, especially in the context of the increasing prevalence of radioactive sources and radiation equipment in industry, which pose many risks if not strictly managed.
The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Inspectorate will lead the organization of inspection teams and coordinate closely with provincial inspectorates and local Departments of Science and Technology where the inspected facilities are located, when necessary.
The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Inspectorate stated that it will seriously and promptly implement the 2026 inspection plan. The inspection methods will be reformed based on promoting the application of science and technology in inspection activities; strengthening the supervision of inspection teams' activities; and monitoring and urging the implementation of inspection conclusions in accordance with the law.
