The policy has many meanings.
With nearly 1,000 students, Chuong Duong Secondary School (Hong Ha Ward, Hanoi ) teaches 2 sessions/day and gives students Saturday and Sunday off every week. Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Hong - Principal discussed, based on the directive documents of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the school met to discuss and agree on a plan for students to study no more than 7 periods/day (5 periods in the morning, 2 periods in the afternoon).
"We currently have enough teachers so we don't have too many difficulties with the staff when making a schedule for subjects to teach 2 sessions/day. The children are given lunch with full nutrition in class, which helps parents feel more secure, they don't have to spend time taking them to and from school at noon, and still ensure their study schedule at school," Ms. Van Hong informed.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Ky Nam - Principal of Hoai Duc B High School (An Khanh Commune, Hanoi) said that teaching 2 sessions/day helps students have more time to consolidate knowledge, practice, practice and receive timely support from teachers. This also helps to make the most of the school's existing facilities and equipment.
The second class is usually devoted to life skills education , experiential activities, career education, STEM, hobby clubs... to help students develop necessary qualities and skills. Teachers have more time to innovate teaching methods, organize diverse activities, and gain a deeper understanding of the psychology and abilities of each student.
Ms. Van Thuy Duong - Vice Principal of Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School (Yen Hoa campus, Hanoi) said that the school has modern facilities and equipment, and a team of specialized teachers, so it is convenient to implement 2 sessions/day. At the same time, it builds a flexible educational plan according to the school's curriculum, suitable for each grade level and organizes a variety of extracurricular activities.
Overcoming difficulties to deploy

In the process of implementing 2-session teaching/day, some schools also encountered many difficulties in terms of human resources and facilities, requiring flexible solutions right from the grassroots level.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - Principal of Duc Thuong Primary School (Hoai Duc Commune, Hanoi) informed that the whole school currently has 1,485 students in 33 classes but only 49 teachers, including contract teachers, the school needs 4-5 more teachers to teach 2 sessions/day. If the current teachers are encouraged to teach from 19 periods to 23 periods/week, the funding to pay for overtime teaching is also a difficult problem.
"To effectively implement the policy of teaching 2 sessions/day, leaders at all levels need to continue to pay attention to better meet the quota of teacher staff, classroom conditions, facilities and equipment serving teaching for schools. Then, the quality of formal teaching will be improved and the efficiency of using the teaching staff as well as facilities will be maximized," Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa expressed.

At Thai Thinh Secondary School (Dong Da Ward, Hanoi), Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong - Principal said that with a total of 38 classes, 66 teachers and staff and about 1,700 students, the school is having to organize 2 shifts per day, morning for grades 8-9, afternoon for grades 6-7. In the future, the school will make a report to the superiors to add more classrooms to be able to effectively implement 2 shifts per day.
"In the immediate future, we will arrange for students to have Saturday off, so they have the opportunity to participate in life skills education, arts, sports and comprehensive development activities. Teaching 2 sessions/day needs to have a roadmap and meet basic requirements on facilities as well as teaching staff, and cannot be rushed, and we will solve problems wherever they arise," Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong confided.
According to Mr. Cuong, the State has many major and breakthrough policies on education and training, including salary reform for teachers. This creates great convenience for schools to implement teaching 2 sessions/day according to the instructions. When life is guaranteed, teachers can feel secure in their profession.
As an office worker in Hanoi and having children in grades 6 and 10, Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha shared: "We find the policy of teaching 2 sessions/day very reasonable. This not only helps children have more time to consolidate skills right in class but also ensures safety. Otherwise, when they go out, they will be more easily lured and drawn into bad habits."
