Miniature startup ecosystem in university
At Thai Nguyen University Branch in Lao Cai province, the Innovation and Startup Incubation Club gathers a large number of students who love research and innovation. Regular meetings, workshops and professional sharing are organized by the club regularly, creating conditions for students to exchange ideas and learn how to turn ideas into products.
Students also have access to support funds, connect with experts and are oriented to participate in school-level, provincial-level and ministerial-level startup competitions.

Many student projects in the Innovation and Startup Incubation Club have achieved high results and have the potential for practical application.
Student Vi Thi Thu Du, class Nong Lam K7, Faculty of Nong Lam, Thai Nguyen University Branch in Lao Cai province is one of the typical faces. During her four years of study, Thu Du continuously participated in startup competitions and won many awards, such as: the project "Production and trading of drought-resistant microbial fertilizers" sponsored by Aide et Action (France) and well received by the market; First prize in the "Youth Startup Competition of Lao Cai province" in 2024; the project "Raising organic frogs on the pond surface" won First prize in the school-level startup competition in 2023; the project of raising "three no" black carp won the school-level Encouragement prize in 2022...
Thu Du shared: By participating in the Innovative Startup Incubation Club, I was inspired to start a business by my teachers and club members. Since then, I have become more confident, improved my ability to analyze the market and develop ideas into products, and won many startup awards while still in school.
Not only senior students like Thu Du, many first-year students are also inspired to start a business from the first days of school.
Student Lo Ta May, Economics class K10, Faculty of Economics - Tourism, Thai Nguyen University Branch, Lao Cai province said: I decided to join the Innovation and Startup Incubation Club right after the civic activity because I realized that this is a dynamic and open environment. The club gives us many opportunities to learn and develop ideas. My group is developing a project to produce dragon fruit wine, hoping to win high prizes in upcoming startup competitions.

Currently, the Innovation and Startup Incubation Club, Thai Nguyen University Branch, Lao Cai Province has more than 30 members who are students from many different faculties and majors. According to Master Vuong Thi Thu Huyen - Club Manager, creating conditions for students to do real work is an important factor in helping to form an entrepreneurial mindset.
The club aims to create an environment that best supports student startups. Students have a space to experiment and are allowed to make mistakes. When supported professionally and practically, they will realize their own abilities and boldly create products that are useful to the community.
Every year, the school maintains school-level startup competitions, then selects outstanding products to continue participating in larger competitions. This approach contributes to maintaining a vibrant startup atmosphere and encourages students to continuously perfect their ideas.
School entrepreneurship spreads to high school students
Not only at the university level, the startup movement is also developing strongly in high schools. At the 2025 Youth Startup Ideas and Projects Competition in Lao Cai province, the project "Mini tissue culture equipment integrating IoT, AI in teaching and experiencing STEM" by students of Tran Nhat Duat High School, Yen Binh commune, won the second prize.
The group of students said the project was carried out with the desire to create a tool to help students in mountainous areas easily access experimental science. Under the guidance of teacher Nguyen Thi Oanh, the group went through many tests and adjustments to perfect the product.
Teacher Nguyen Thi Oanh, Tran Nhat Duat High School, Yen Binh Commune shared: I highly appreciate the students' ability to observe reality, their ability to think creatively, be creative, and eager to learn. With my support, I want students to see that starting a business is very close to life. When they make products by themselves, try to fail and then try again, they will understand the value of creativity.

Over the years, Ms. Oanh has accompanied students in implementing start-up projects such as: grapefruit essential oil, shampoo from grapefruit peel, freeze-dried grapefruit tea or plant milk from purple glutinous corn. These projects have won many awards and been highly appreciated at provincial competitions thanks to their practical application.
Ms. Oanh said the common point of the projects is to take advantage of local materials and life needs to inspire students' passion for entrepreneurship.

From high school to university, start-up activities are gradually becoming a driving force to help students proactively explore their own abilities, connect knowledge with practice and boldly pursue ideas. When guided by teachers, given experimental space and early access to technology, students not only create useful products but also form the courage to embark on a creative journey in the future.
The school startup movement in Lao Cai is therefore creating a vibrant and practical learning environment, where the young generation is given the opportunity to dare to think, dare to do and contribute to the development of the locality.
