Staying in the village to develop the economy.

Mr. Nguyen Quang The (born in 1979, originally from Ninh Binh province) currently resides in Son Tay commune, Quang Ngai province. After leaving the military in 2001, the young soldier came to Quang Ngai and fell in love with a local teacher, deciding to settle down and build his life in this area.
In the early days of settling in the village, witnessing the hardships faced by the Ca Dong people – where the poverty rate once exceeded 90%, and children shivering in thin clothes during the freezing winter – Mr. The was deeply troubled. He realized that this land had enormous potential for economic development from its hills and forests, but due to the limited awareness of the villagers and outdated farming practices, poverty persisted. Driven by the desire to change the mindset and practices of the villagers, he resolved: To gain their trust and follow their lead, he and his family must first set an example, becoming successful entrepreneurs to serve as role models.
True to his word, he got to work, pioneering production. Thanks to his shrewdness, perseverance, and the discipline of a soldier, Mr. The now owns two stable electrical and plumbing equipment stores and also manages over 2 hectares of forest land planted with acacia, banana, and various fruit trees, generating a high income.

Mr. Nguyen Quang The presents gifts to people with disabilities.
With his family's finances now stable, he has a solid foundation to dedicate himself to the community. His philanthropic journey quietly began in 2009-2010. Back then, he painstakingly went around collecting boxes of instant noodles and used clothes, then traversed muddy roads to bring warmth to remote villages. Currently, as the head of the 76 Quang Ngai Social Volunteer Group, Mr. The has become a reliable bridge connecting resources from philanthropists nationwide to the highlands. For the past seven years, he and his volunteers have maintained the "Thien Tam Nutritious Porridge" program every Tuesday to support poor patients and students. Campaigns such as "Giving Warmth to Children in Winter," "Supporting Education," and "Bringing Water to the Community," in which he actively participates, have also provided timely assistance to thousands of vulnerable people.
Thanks to Mr. The's humane connection, Dinh Vu Thuy Diep (born in 2012, Son Tay commune) was awarded a scholarship worth 130 million VND under the "Learn to Change Your Life" program, opening the door for her to continue pursuing her dreams. Thuy Diep shared: "My family is in very difficult circumstances. My mother is disabled but still has to work hard every day to support four siblings. If it weren't for Mr. The's timely help, I would probably have had to drop out of school a long time ago. I promise to study hard so that I can become a kindergarten teacher and bring literacy back to my village."
Guiding the people to change their way of thinking and doing things.

Mr. Nguyen Quang The instructs the Ca Dong people on livestock farming techniques.
Beyond providing emergency assistance, Mr. Nguyen Quang The is always concerned about how to help his fellow villagers rise out of poverty sustainably. Closely linked to the "National Unity for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign, he directly guides the villagers on how to do business, provides them with seedlings and livestock, and shares his knowledge of animal husbandry and production. Thanks to him, many Ca Dong families have changed their mindset and practices, achieving stable lives.
Ms. Dinh Thi Hinh from Son Tay commune said: "Previously, my family was in extremely difficult circumstances. Thanks to Mr. The's support in providing livestock and his dedicated sharing of production knowledge, my family has now successfully risen out of poverty."
In addition to supporting livelihoods, Mr. The actively campaigned to eliminate outdated customs and superstitious practices among the local people, encouraged children to attend school, and worked together to repair damaged roads and irrigation dams after floods. From 2016 to 2025, the total value of money and in-kind donations Mr. The mobilized reached approximately 6.5 billion VND, of which nearly 2 billion VND was directly provided to the people of Son Tay district. All donations are publicly and transparently disclosed on a monthly basis.

For his contributions, Mr. The has been honored with numerous Certificates of Merit, Commendations, and Certificates recognizing him as an exemplary figure in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh.
Ms. Bui Thi Anh Dung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Tay commune, Quang Ngai province, commented: "Mr. The has worked very well with the locality in implementing social welfare movements. During natural disasters and epidemics, he has always been at the forefront. What is most commendable about him is his perseverance and enthusiasm in charitable work. The locality always holds him up as an example for cadres, Party members, and the people to learn from and emulate."
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community, Mr. Nguyen Quang The was awarded a Certificate of Exemplary Achievement in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; and was also awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province as a typical example in the patriotic emulation movement of the locality.
Inspired by President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "Learning is a book without a last page," veteran Nguyen Quang The affirms that he will continue his philanthropic journey, vowing to dedicate his life to the peace and development of his village in the highlands of Quang Ngai.
