As scheduled, in early June, the temporary kitchen of Tran Ngoc Hoang Secondary and High School ( Can Tho City ) was once again lit up to serve lunch to students studying for their high school graduation exams.
Mr. Le Van Dung, the school’s principal, said that this school year, the school has 116 students registered to take the high school graduation exam. In addition to supporting scholarships for students in difficult circumstances, the school organizes a kitchen to help students review, instead of making them go home to eat and live in hot weather and sudden rain.
Students are served lunch by teachers at the school cafeteria.
"We hope these meals will help students save time on commuting and increase their rest time during the final exam preparation process. This is also an opportunity for teachers and students to bond and motivate them to overcome the pressure of the high school graduation exam," said Mr. Dung.
On days when students are busy reviewing for exams, teachers, in addition to supporting students in reviewing, also take advantage of each other's work, go to the market to buy food, prepare and cook delicious dishes to serve students through the program "Free Meals - Supporting Exam Season". In addition, many grade 11 students of the school also participate in helping teachers in cooking.
Every day, teachers cook hundreds of meals (including 3 dishes: soup, stir-fry, and salty). Each meal comes with fruit and the menu is changed every day so that students do not get bored and have enough nutrition...
Teachers join hands to cook delicious, nutritious meals for their students
This activity aims to support, encourage and create conditions for students to minimize difficulties during exam preparation days, have more time to rest, contributing to helping them complete well and achieve high results in the 2023 high school graduation exam.
The school plans to cook about 2,500 free meals from June 1 to 22 to support students in their exam preparation. Every day, from 10:30 a.m. to about 11 a.m., students eat at the school cafeteria. The school will raise funds from benefactors and a portion of the operating expenses from parents.
The program "Free Meals - Supporting Exam Season" has been implemented by Tran Ngoc Hoang Secondary and High School for many years. Mr. Du Thanh Hieu, Secretary of the School's Youth Union, said that during these days, all the efforts of teachers are directed towards students with the desire to help them have more time to review their lessons and create a comfortable and joyful atmosphere for them to review for exams. Through this cooking, the relationship between teachers and students is also closer and many beautiful memories of their student days are created.
Grade 11 students also help teachers with cooking.
Mr. Tran Thanh Binh, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, said that in addition to organizing review sessions for high school graduation exams for students, up to this point, the entire city has 5 schools organizing free lunches for 650 disadvantaged grade 12 students during their review period to prepare for the exams...
"In addition to organizing high school graduation exam review for students, the city'seducation sector always pays special attention, takes care of and supports students, especially those in difficult circumstances, so that they can have less hardship and make more effort to pass the upcoming exam," said Mr. Binh.
