The models of "Recycled scrap collection points", "Waste classification collection points" or "Green houses" are environmental protection movements that have been spreading strongly among women's union members in communes and wards in Yen Bai city. The collection points are designed with sturdy steel frames and are located in convenient places for people to drop off scrap. With the purpose of collecting and sorting recycled scrap, household waste, and limiting the indiscriminate disposal of plastic waste, these movements not only contribute to changing the awareness of women's union members and people in protecting and preserving the "green - clean - beautiful" environment, but the money raised from selling scrap also contributes positively to social security work in the area.

Ms. Tran Thi Hao - Head of the Women's Union of Group 8, Yen Thinh Ward, Yen Bai City excitedly shared: "Garbage collection is very important in environmental protection work. Since its launch, this activity has been enthusiastically participated by women in the group. Thereby, helping to protect the environment and keep the landscape clean and beautiful."

Recycled waste is brought to collection points by people, limiting discharge into the environment.

Previously, all types of plastic waste and household waste of Ms. Pham Thi Loan's family in Group 8, Yen Thinh Ward, Yen Bai City were often put together in plastic bags or trash buckets waiting for environmental workers to collect. However, since 2020, when the Ward Women's Union implemented the Green House model to collect recycled waste, joining hands to protect the environment, every day Ms. Loan proactively sorts her family's waste into different types including: organic waste, recyclable waste and non-recyclable waste. Accordingly, all types of bottles, beer cans, and unused plastic utensils will be brought to the designated waste collection point or used to plant trees and flowers to decorate the grounds of the cultural house.

Ms. Pham Thi Loan said: Since the movement of waste classification at source, people have known how to classify waste, organic waste can be used to make fertilizer for plants, and recycled plastic shells are brought to the recycling collection point. Thanks to that, the amount of waste released into the environment is very small, contributing to protecting the living environment.

Living in the central ward of Yen Bai city, members of the Women's Union of Dong Tam ward are always aware of the important role of environmental protection. The union has established self-managed environmental sanitation teams at grassroots branches, actively promoting the "5 no, 3 clean" campaign, implementing the criteria of clean house, clean alley, clean kitchen, clean street. Along with that, women's union members in the ward also regularly clean and sweep the streets, do not litter, and dispose of garbage on time and in the right place. At the same time, they preserve, maintain and implement well the self-managed women's routes, contributing to making the streets cleaner and more beautiful.

Identifying environmental protection as one of the key activities in the association's work, in recent times, the City Women's Union has not only promoted movements and activities, contributing to making the city cleaner, but also built many flower streets, creating colorful streets, both beautifying the city and raising people's awareness of protecting the living environment. Effectively integrating environmental sanitation with the movement to build a "5 no, 3 clean" family. At the same time, maintaining the activities of "Green Sunday" to clean up village roads and neighborhoods. Effectively promoting self-managed Women's roads, promoting the prevention and control of plastic waste to raise awareness of Women's Union members in particular and people in general to join hands in protecting the environment.

Ms. Duong Thi Hai Yen - President of the Women's Union of Yen Bai City said: In the coming time, the Women's Union will continue to propagate to the city's officials and members about the Law on Environmental Protection and propagate to officials and members to strictly comply with regulations on environmental sanitation, not to litter, and to dispose of garbage in the right place. Along with that, continue to maintain weekly Green Sundays in residential areas and mobilize members to clean up alleys and neighborhoods and promote women's self-management role in environmental protection.

In the context of rapid urbanization as today, the living environment is under increasing pressure of pollution from dust, population growth, agricultural waste, daily activities... Therefore, through meaningful movements and activities, Yen Bai City Women's Union has been raising awareness and sense of responsibility of women members in particular and people in general in participating in preserving and protecting the environment. Thereby, contributing to the transformation from awareness to action, building Yen Bai city increasingly green - clean - beautiful, modern and civilized.
