The world's largest black diamond, named "The Black Falcon", was created by an Antwerp manufacturer, demonstrating the pinnacle of technique and artistry.

The international jewellers are turning their attention to the Belgian city of Antwerp, the “diamond capital” of the world – after the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) confirmed that local businessman Peter Herbosch now owns the world’s largest cut diamond, dubbed “The Black Falcon”.
A VNA reporter in Brussels quoted information from AWDC as saying that this diamond originated from Guinea, was discovered in 2008 with an initial weight of up to 887.22 carats. After an elaborate cutting process, the finished stone weighed 612.34 carats, becoming a rare masterpiece in the global diamond industry.
Unlike traditional white diamonds, “The Black Falcon” is a black diamond, a gemstone famous for its hardness and special structure, making the cutting process extremely complicated.
To achieve the final shape – the falcon's head, a symbol of strength and precision – it took the craftsman Peter Herbosch seven years of continuous work, combining modern techniques, sophistication and hand-sculpting artistry.
Experts say that the completion of "The Black Falcon" is not only a remarkable technical achievement but also a true work of art, demonstrating the harmonious combination of technology and traditional craftsmanship of Antwerp goldsmiths, known as the "heart of the world diamond industry" as it processes about 80% of rough diamonds and half of polished diamonds on the international market./.
