After many years of building a successful foundation, the Vietnamese gymnastics athletes continue to aim to protect and continue the achievements they have made. The journey to success of Vietnamese gymnastics is a long story built from the sweat, tears and resilience of many generations of athletes.
Talented young athletes
According to head coach Truong Minh Sang, the Gymnastics team has been scheduled to train and compete throughout 2025. Athletes have been sent to participate in a number of major international tournaments such as the World Cup, the Asian Championship and the 2025 World Championship. These are important occasions for each player to have realistic assessments of their expertise, accumulate experience and train their competitive mentality.

"At each stage, athletes have about 3-4 suitable tournaments. Sometimes athletes compete a lot to gain experience, sometimes they have to reduce the frequency to recover and increase the difficulty of the test. The goal is to maintain physical strength and achieve the best technical stability before the SEA Games" - Coach Truong Minh Sang explained.
The Vietnamese Gymnastics team is being built on a young, talented, strong and courageous team of athletes. Mainstay Dinh Phuong Thanh has maintained his peak performance since winning the "golden" hat-trick at the 2015 SEA Games. In addition, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien and Trinh Hai Khang are outstanding faces, who have demonstrated their comprehensive abilities.
Khanh Phong not only won the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia but also made history with a silver medal in the rings at the 19th ASIAD, affirming his ability to compete fairly with the Asian powers. Xuan Thien is the golden hope in the pommel horse event, having won the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games and the 2025 World Cup, while Trinh Hai Khang is highly regarded in the horizontal bars and parallel bars events. Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu and Bui Doan Quynh Nam, the mainstay members of the women's team, are also expected to perform well in their strong events.
Goal 2-3 gold medals
SEA Games 33 brings unprecedented challenges. In the official competition program, the Organizing Committee decided to cancel two events, the all-around and team - the strengths of Vietnamese men's gymnastics. All attention is focused on the individual events (single discipline), each athlete can participate in a maximum of 3 events and reach the finals of 2 events.
This change has a certain impact on the competition plan, but the Vietnamese team has quickly adapted by adjusting their training and competition strategies. The team's coaching staff also focuses on improving physical strength, increasing the difficulty of movements and training their mentality, to help athletes be confident and shine when entering the competition stage.
The target of Vietnam Gymnastics at SEA Games 33 is to strive to win 2-3 gold medals. This is a realistic target but also a heavy burden of pressure when the team has to defend the position it has built over the past 2 decades.
With the talent, courage and determination of each member, fans can fully expect explosive performances.
