The new generation of athletes – those who move forward with the power of the times.

The Vietnam U23 team failed to reach the final of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship after losing to China U23 in the semi-final. However, losing one match does not diminish the value of the young players' successful "Asian campaign".

They deserve to be expected to bring about changes in Vietnamese football in the future, because they are part of a generation of athletes who are carrying a new mission: to lead Vietnamese sports into the era of global integration with the resilience forged from the strength of the times.

While the Vietnam U23 team has been tirelessly competing in Saudi Arabia since the 33rd SEA Games, badminton hot girl Nguyen Thuy Linh has also managed to play in two World Tour Series tournaments before returning home for Tet (Lunar New Year), and 18-year-old golfer Nguyen Anh Minh finished his first international tournament in the US with a T35 finish…

The Vietnam U23 team is expected to bring about change to Vietnamese football.

From Southeast Asia to the continent, from national missions to conquering personal limits, the young people of Vietnamese sports are advancing onto the world stage with a powerful rhythm in the endless cycle of modern sports.

In the fast-paced era of Vietnam's rise, national sports are no longer just stories of "poor but resilient children." The biggest difference in this generation lies in their independent mindset and career management thinking.

Look at how Nguyen Thuy Linh single-handedly conquered badminton tournaments from Europe to Asia, even though she was all alone. She managed her own schedule, faced the pressure herself, and communicated with the world using the language of a professional star.

Hay Nguyen Anh Minh, a Gen Z guy on the golf course, exudes the calm yet sharp demeanor of a generation exposed to technology and the most advanced training methods from a young age.

They embody a sporting landscape that has broken free from the "village-level" mindset, where each individual is a dynamic entity, knowing how to leverage the strong advantages provided by the institution to propel their personal aspirations into a national one. This generation understands technology, masters data, and possesses a global mindset. They are not afraid of confrontation or intimidated when facing larger sporting nations, because they are equipped with sufficient knowledge and skills.

The modernity of Vietnamese sports today is further evidenced by the diversity of intellectual levels and the mobility of athletes. Bao Phuong Vinh, a master's graduate in economics , became a world champion in billiards, and Lai Ly Huynh became a world champion in Chinese chess right in China thanks to his ability to play chess against a computer—something that previous generations could not access. These examples represent the model of intellectual athletes who use logical thinking to decipher high-level matches.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi That cycling through Europe or Huynh Nhu bringing a Vietnamese smile to the football fields of Portugal have demonstrated a deep ability to adapt and integrate, allowing Vietnamese character to be forged through the fierce competition of the international professional environment.

Alongside these youthful "inner strengths" is an inspiring wave: the return of Vietnamese athletes living abroad. From the green fields to the swimming lanes and martial arts arenas, Vietnamese blood from all over the world is returning to its roots.

The Asian Games in Japan will be a key objective for Vietnamese sports in 2026.

This is not simply about adding Western technical skills or physique, but a convergence of patriotic spirit. They choose to wear the national team jersey not for safety, but because of a sacred calling from their roots, ready to contribute the best they have accumulated in the most advanced sports systems to a Vietnam that is yearning to reach new heights.

This new mindset is the most convincing answer to Vietnam's Vision 2030-2045. The goal of reaching the Top 50 at the Olympics and Top 10 at the Asian Games is no longer just symbolic numbers on planning documents.

This is an inevitable path, a fitting response to the key investments and profound attention from the Party and the State. When a nation is on the verge of progress, sports cannot stand aside. Vietnamese sports and its "young generation" must be the representative face, the proof of the physical and intellectual strength of the Vietnamese people in the new era.

In 2026, the year Vietnamese sports aim for the Asian Games in Japan, this generation of young athletes will step onto the continent's biggest stage. They represent a confident, modern Vietnam that dares to think and dares to act. A sports nation ready to engage in fair "dialogue" with the world, through talent, discipline, and intelligence.
