The Vietnamese delegation was the 10th out of 11 sports delegations to march past the stage at the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games on the evening of December 9. We appeared right before the host delegation, Thailand.

Athletes Le Minh Thuan (karate) and Le Thanh Thuy (volleyball) were honored to carry the flag for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the opening ceremony.
The Vietnamese sports delegation attended the SEA Games this year with a total of 842 athletes, 189 coaches and dozens of experts. The Vietnamese athletes competed in 47 sports, participating in 443 events. The target of the Vietnamese sports delegation is to win 90-110 gold medals, ranking in the top 3 of the entire delegation.

Vietnam's strong sports at this year's Southeast Asian Games include athletics, swimming, football, taekwondo, shooting, wrestling, weightlifting, and gymnastics. These are all basic sports of the Olympic movement.
The first team of the Vietnamese sports delegation to officially compete in the 33rd SEA Games is the men's football team (U22 Vietnam), from December 3. December 10 is expected to be the day when the Vietnamese sports delegation will have its first gold medals. These gold medals may appear in the sports of taekwondo, jujitsu, swimming, and cycling.
