To prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, the Department of Physical Training and Sports has selected 17 key sports to invest in, including many Asian Games and Olympic sports, with the biggest strategic focus this year being the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this December.
Vietnamese sports are rushing to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games with the goal of entering the top 3, even striving for the top 2 in the medal table in Thailand at the end of this year. Since the beginning of 2025, national teams have been gathered and trained in many locations across the country such as Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Can Tho with a focus on key Olympic and Asian Games sports.
To prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, the Department of Sports and Physical Training has selected 17 key sports to invest in, including many Asian Games and Olympic sports, with the biggest strategic focus this year being the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand next December. This Games will be an important stepping stone for Vietnamese Sports to move towards the larger arenas of the Asian Games and the Olympics.
At the 33rd SEA Games, the goal of Vietnam Sports is to win 80 to 100 gold medals, maintain the top 3 position of the whole delegation, and aim to be the best in the region in some strong sports such as athletics, karate, wrestling. Swimming, shooting, fencing, boxing, cycling are also expected to improve their positions compared to previous games.
After two highly successful SEA Games (ranking first overall at SEA Games 31 and 32), with careful preparation and determination, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation hopes to continue to shine, affirming the country's sports position on the regional and continental map.
