Last year, SVT used an excerpt from Mr. Trump's speech, splicing various parts into the news, giving the audience the feeling that Mr. Trump supported the attack on the Capitol in the incident on January 6, 2021.
Meanwhile, the part where he called on supporters to express their views peacefully and patriotically was removed, similar to the BBC incident.

Initially, SVT said it “trusted SVT’s coverage of the Capitol attack.” The channel later re-edited the text and clip, adding black boxes and pauses between sections to help viewers understand the context of the speech.
Executive producer Karin Ekman insisted this was about greater transparency and did not believe the BBC scandal would affect SVT's reputation.
SVT also explained that Norwegian broadcaster NRK had changed its presentation of the Capitol attack in a similar way before.
The BBC scandal hit a Panorama programme broadcast last October, when Mr Trump's speech was edited to the point that viewers mistakenly thought he called for the occupation of Congress .
As a result, CEO Tim Davie and News Director Deborah Turness resigned. Mr. Trump demanded that the BBC remove the program by November 14, apologize and pay compensation, and threatened to sue for $1 billion. The station apologized but refused to pay compensation.
