To commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026), Kim Dong Publishing House is releasing a new publication, "Vu Xuan Thieu and the Immortal Flight," part of the "Storyteller-Pilot" series by Colonel and fighter pilot Nguyen Cong Huy.

This three-volume book series recounts stories of the Vietnam People's Air Force during the war against the US, from the perspective of those involved. Among them, "Vu Xuan Thieu and the Immortal Flight" focuses on portraying the heroic martyr Vu Xuan Thieu, a pilot who achieved the feat of shooting down a B-52 during the Hanoi -Dien Bien Phu air campaign in 1972.

From his childhood sketches of airplanes, the book traces the journey of Vu Xuan Thieu's growth. Despite failing the pilot selection process, he persevered in training to become a fighter pilot. The character is portrayed as both simple and relatable, yet representative of a generation of idealistic young people ready to dedicate themselves to their country.

The publication "Vu Xuan Thieu and the Immortal Flight" by Kim Dong Publishing House was released to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.

The culmination was the final flight amidst the fiery skies at the end of 1972, a moment that has gone down in history, becoming a symbol of the unwavering will to fight and the spirit of sacrifice for independence and freedom.

In addition, the book "19 Aces of Vietnam" expands the profile of MiG pilots in the resistance war against the US. Many prominent figures such as Nguyen Van Coc, Nguyen Van Bay, Nguyen Hong Nhi, and Nguyen Duc Soat are recreated through air battles and outstanding achievements.

Through 19 portraits that achieved "Ace" status, the publication contributes to honoring the courage, intelligence, and bravery of Vietnamese air force soldiers.

Meanwhile, "The Pilot's Story" is a collection of the author Nguyen Cong Huy's own recollections, from his enlistment and training to fly fighter planes in the Soviet Union to the intense combat period when North Vietnam was constantly under attack.

The work is highly documentary in nature, while also clearly depicting the lives of airmen and the unique characteristics of aerial warfare.
