At the Phuoc Khanh bridge construction site, construction work continued uninterrupted even during the Lunar New Year holiday of 2026. More than 100 engineers and workers were on duty throughout the holiday, working in shifts day and night to ensure progress. A sense of urgency pervaded the area around the two main cable-stayed pillars P15 and P16, which are key components determining the completion date of the project.
Focus on constructing key components.
According to Mr. Phan Van Quan, Project Director of J3-1 (North Central South Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company), on New Year's Eve, the contractor commenced construction of beam segment K17 at pier P15 and segment K19 at pier P16. On the morning of the first day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the teams continued with the remaining work on the bridge deck, fabricating and installing reinforcement steel, and preparing for the next steps. Maintaining construction throughout Tet aims to keep pace with the project and achieve the goal of completing the bridge's main span in May 2026.

Superior scale and technical standards
The Phuoc Khanh Bridge is the most important remaining component on the 57.8km Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway. The route starts from the Ben Luc area (Tay Ninh province, formerly part of Long An), passes through Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai , and ends at the intersection with National Highway 51, approximately 16km from Long Thanh International Airport. The project is designed to Class A expressway standards, with 4 lanes and an operating speed of 100km/h.
In terms of scale, the Phuoc Khanh Bridge is over 3,180m long, with a cross-section of nearly 22m, including a main span of 300m. The structure is designed as a modern cable-stayed bridge, with a clearance of 55m for ship traffic, placing it among the bridges with the largest clearance in the country today. This parameter allows ships with a tonnage of approximately 30,000 tons to safely navigate the Long Tau River without affecting the shipping lanes to and from the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port complex.

The final link connecting inter-regional transportation infrastructure.
The bridge's foundation and piers are designed to withstand collisions with large cargo ships, ensuring technical standards and long-term durability. Along the entire Ben Luc - Long Thanh route, the Phuoc Khanh bridge, along with the Binh Khanh bridge over the Soai Rap river, is one of the two most complex components. Currently, the western section from the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway to the Binh Khanh bridge has been completed; the eastern section from Nhon Trach to National Highway 51 has also been put into operation.
The remaining section, including the Phuoc Khanh bridge and approximately 3km of access roads, plays a crucial role in completing the entire route in the 2026-2027 period. Upon completion, this expressway will directly connect with the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, National Highway 51, and the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, forming a new transport corridor parallel to the Nguyen Van Linh and Vo Van Kiet axes. Simultaneously, the route will create convenient links between the Mekong Delta and the Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port area and Long Thanh International Airport.
Note: Project information may change due to planning adjustments by the authorities.
